Abstract: A web winding apparatus comprises a cutter, a web pressing member and a roller which are movable together between two bobbins supported respectively by two rotational center members. The cutter cuts a web being transferred, the web pressing member presses an end portion of the web cut with the cutter on the bobbin being empty, and the roller transfers the web being transferred to come, toward the bobbins. The apparatus further comprises two peripheral covers independently turnable around the rotational center members and respectively covering parts of outer peripheral surfaces of the webs wound on the two bobbins. Each of the peripheral covers respectively having circumferential openings is turnable selectively to a first position to direct the circumferential opening toward the roller and a second position to partition the bobbin side covered thereby and the roller side.

Abstract: Systems methods and devices for packaging used grain bags as the grain bags are being unloaded. The system is located at the top of a grain unloader machine or a grain extractor machine. The invention uses a pair of plates with retractable winding cores placed at the center of each plate. At the start of the unloading process, the end of a grain bag is attached to both the retractable winding cores. As the grain bag is unloaded, the unloader moves down the length of the grain bag. The portion of the grain bag that is emptied is rolled up by the rotating winding cores. The winding cores are powered by one or two external motors controlled by a user. Once the empty grain bag has been completely rolled up, the retractable winding cores can be retracted.

Abstract: A spiral winder wrinkle remover capable of wrapping a material of varying thickness into a structurally stable, smooth coil. As a material is supplied to the spiral winder, the collecting device, such as a spool, rotates and oscillates linearly along the axis of rotation to distribute the material along the length of the collecting device and form a structurally stable coil of material. As the material is directed to the collecting device it is threaded through a tilting guide. The guide tilts with the linear oscillations of the collecting device and maintains a uniform tension across the width of the material. The oscillations and tilting guide ensure that a material, particularly if the material's thickness varies along its width, is wrapped into a structurally stable coil where the layers of the coil are wrapped smoothly, without folds or wrinkles.

Abstract: This invention provides a winding machine comprising a support drum, a winding tube at least partially supported on the support drum, and a web of material being wound around the winding tube to form a web reel in response to rotation of the support drum and the web reel, the point where the web reel rotates into contact with the support drum being called the nip. The winding machine further includes a nip safety guard comprising a finger presence sensor, a support mechanism supporting the finger presence sensor adjacent one of the web reel and the support drum, and a moving mechanism that moves and locates the finger presence sensor support mechanism depending on the size of the web reel so that the finger presence sensor is located closely adjacent the one of the web reel and the support drum and spaced a safe distance from the nip. The safety guard moving mechanism further includes a control for determining the size of the web reel and operating the moving mechanism to position the finger sensor.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for winding a web about a central axis and a rotating mandrel to form a roll. A feeding mechanism provides a running web to be wound into a roll. A retainer assembly may be configured for holding the web as it is wound upon the rotating mandrel. The retainer assembly may be configured to accommodate oscillating movement of the rotating mandrel between a clockwise and a counterclockwise direction. The web may be wound in one direction and then back again repeatedly to form a roll. Retaining means, such as paddles, may be actuated from an active position in contact with the web to a resting position removed from the roll. Paddles may serve to hold the web upon the outer surface of the roll at the time in which the rotating mandrel is changing rotational direction.

Abstract: A partially unwound roll is moved for splicing with a subsequent parent roll, and the united web is rewound. The torque transmitting means include side clamping mechanisms engaging only the end surfaces of the parent rolls. Abstract: An anti-crimping roll is fixed to a vehicle moving in a direction perpendicular to the moving trace of a piston by way of a cylinder extending/shrinking the piston in a linear direction, and they are disposed at a position capable of moving along a longitudinal direction of a steel sheet within a plane in which the anti-crimping roll is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of a tension reel. A control device calculates an aimed winding angle of the steel sheet to the anti-crimping roll capable of avoiding occurrence of crimps based on a thickness and a width of the steel sheet, and drives the cylinder and the vehicle such that the calculated angle is aligned with an actual wind-up angle calculated from the stroke amount of the piston, moving amount of the vehicle to adjust the position of the anti-crimping roll.

Abstract: A bandage roller includes a housing and a motor having a casing that is secured to the housing. The motor has a rotatable shaft with an attachment region for attaching a bandage thereto. A first guide is attached to the housing and has a first limiting surface. A second guide is attached to the housing and has a second limiting surface. The second limiting surface is configured opposite the first limiting surface for guiding the bandage therebetween. The first guide is preferably an adjustable guide that is moveably attached to the housing. A gliding surface is disposed between the first limiting surface and the second limiting surface and is at a greater height than that of the rotatable shaft. The gliding surface enables the bandage to glide thereupon. An additional guide includes two rods and is attached to the housing such that the additional guide receives the bandage before the adjustable guide.
