Abstract: A body-mountable device may be formed of a polymeric material. A molding form can define a cavity and polymeric material can be formed using the mold to create a device shaped in accordance with the cavity. Electronics disposed on a substrate can be encapsulated within the polymeric material by forming a first layer of polymeric material, positioning the substrate on the first layer, and then forming a second layer of polymeric material over the substrate. A channel can expose a sensor disposed on the substrate. The channel may be formed while molding the second layer of polymeric material over the substrate. The molding form can include a protrusion that extends toward the sensor. A sacrificial sealant material can be applied to the sensor or the protrusion to create a seal between the protrusion and the sensor. The polymeric material forms around the sealed protrusion to create the channel.

Abstract: Self-supporting intermediate walls (12) for cellular division of mould lower parts in a concrete casting machine of the kind typically used for making cast items in the form of concrete blocks for wall construction and elements, solid blocks or blocks with cavities or recesses in two or more rows. By the self-supporting design, the distance between rows of products may be reduced for better utilization of the production plate while at the same time maintaining the replaceability of wear parts. By the invention is indicated a self-supporting intermediate wall (12) consisting of two halves, an intermediate wall with lower pins (18) and an intermediate wall with upper pins (20) which, when the two halves are assembled with the pins engaging a partitioning plate (8), form a self-supporting intermediate wall (12). For moulds with core supports (28), intermediate wall parts (22 and 23) are used with a recess (25) in which the boss (29) on the core support iron (28) fits.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for making an ophthalmic lens. The present methods and systems are effecting in coupling two mold sections together at two or more discrete regions. Embodiments of the methods and systems form a bore that extends completely through one of the mold sections and only partially through the other mold section. During formation of the bore, the mold material in proximity to the bore being foamed becomes molten and diffuses from the bore. A portion of the molten mold material is provided at a contact point between the two mold sections and when the molten material cools, the material foams a spot weld between the mold sections. By foaming multiple hollow spot welds in a mold assembly, the two mold sections can be securely coupled to each other during the manufacture of an ophthalmic lens, such as a silicone hydrogel contact lens.
