Drop Forming Restrictor Patents (Class 251/125)
  • Patent number: 8556226
Abstract: There is a closure member for rotating or reciprocating movement between upstream and downstream passageways of a valve. A device, which consists of two or more elongated tubes whose cross sections form up into one or more files in moving direction of the closure member to divide the upstream passageway into many channels capable of leading the fluid to flow through, is disposed in the upstream passageway of the valve upstream of the closure member, consequently the upstream surface of the closure member can respectively open or close each channel in sequence while the closure member is rotating or reciprocating in the valve.

  • Patent number: 8251348
Abstract: The present invention relates to valve plugs for reducing erosion of the valve plug head and/or seat. More specifically, this invention comprises a valve plug incorporating a choke transfer trim that reduces the time of exposure of the plug head and/or seat to high velocity and high pressure drop at the interface of the plug head and seat when the valve is in the closed position. The choke transfer trim transfers the flow control area of the valve away from the plug head/seat interface to a location downstream, thereby reducing erosion at the interface between the valve plug head and/or seat that is typically used for fluid throttling and shut off.

  • Patent number: 7896311
Abstract: The present invention relates to a solenoid valve configured to be mounted to a shock absorber of a vehicle to adjust damping force. solenoid valve of a shock absorber in which a damping force is adjusted through adjustment of back pressure against a disc valve. The solenoid valve includes a back pressure chamber for generating back pressure against the disc valve by a fluid introduced through a back pressure adjusting flow passage, and a spool moved in a spool guide by operation of a solenoid to control opening/closing or opening rate of the back pressure adjusting flow passage. The back pressure adjusting flow passage includes a variable orifice with an opening rate of the variable orifice being adjusted by the spool and the spool guide, the back pressure chamber, and a fixed orifice formed on the disc valve.

  • Patent number: 6588725
Abstract: A settable control valve (13, 50, 113) has a closure member moveable within a passage-way (17, 71, 81A, 101, 117), there being at least one groove for fluid flow (25, 26, 44, 56, 57, 97, 98, 107, 108, 125, 126) in the wall of the passageway. The groove is of varying transverse cross-sectional area along its length and the closure member may be set at different positions so as to expose varying lengths of the groove to fluid flow, hence enabling different fluid flow rates to be established.

  • Patent number: 6158455
Abstract: A cap assembly for providing continuous drip to a faucet exposed to freezing temperatures such as a faucet located outside a house. The cap assembly includes a cap member adapted to be mounted over the end of a faucet, which cap member includes a cylindrical wall portion and a closed end portion having an opening therein. The cap assembly includes an internal annular ridge which is adapted to receive a flow disc within the ridge, which flow disc includes an opening which is non-aligned with the opening in the closed end portion of the cap in order to create a dripping action. A rubber washer is positioned in sealing engagement with the internal annular ridge and the flow disc. A filter member is located within the rubber washer such that, upon mounting of the cap assembly over the end portion of a faucet, a continuous dripping flow through the cap assembly may be provided in order to prevent water within the faucet or within piping leading to the faucet from freezing.

  • Patent number: 5040770
Abstract: A device for transforming a laminar fluid flow into drops, especially infusion fluids, comprises an inlet unit tightly placed into an intermediate unit. A cylinder of the inlet unit is, on its outer circumference, provided with a screw-shaped channel extending from a through-hole leading perpendicularly to the cylinder at its first side to the area of passage of the cylinder into a bottom at its second side. A step projecting radially inwards from the cylinder comprises, on its inner circumference, a number of longitudinally running grooves connected to a number of radially running grooves arranged on a flange of the intermediate unit. A levelling nut is screwed on a thread of a socket comprising a sealing screen which, with a transition fit, is placed between the cylinder of the inlet unit and the cylinder of the intermediate unit.

  • Patent number: 4387734
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for converting a continuous fluid stream into a succession of discrete fluid segments or boluses traveling independently of each other in a capillary passage, the menisci of the boluses so generated providing a clear basis for observing, accurately measuring, and controlling fluid flow. The meniscus generator is surrounded by a second fluid immiscible with the first fluid, and the wall of the capillary passage is provided with a longitudinal slit for reducing the effect of surface tension, for the spontaneous formation of boluses of the first fluid, for eliminating the effect of differential pressure on the boluses, and for maintaining separation of the boluses.

  • Patent number: 4064909
Abstract: A slide valve is disclosed including a slider disposed between and slidable with respect to a pair of intercoupled valve body members. Selective positioning of the slider controls fluid flow through the slide valve. The slider includes at least one aperture and a tube communicating therewith. One of the valve body members includes at least one passageway with which the aperture of the slider can selectively communicate. A resilient pad with at least one aperture therethrough is positioned in a cavity in this valve body member and is disposed between the slider and the passageway. The other valve body member functions as a cap and is coupled with the first, and includes an elongated slot through which the tube of the slider extends. When the aperture of the slider overlaps or is aligned with the passageway of the first valve body member and the aperture of the pad, fluid communication exists through the valve.
