Telescoping Screws Patents (Class 254/102)
  • Patent number: 11608037
Abstract: A low-profile trailer jack reduces the height of the jack above the trailer a-frame by over 50% eliminating pickup tailgate interference when lowered by a vehicle operator. This is accomplished using a two-stage concentric lead screw design rather than a single screw as described in prior art. The two-stage design also allows for increased lowering and raising speed of the jack foot by using the first stage, which is a larger outer screw with larger pitch, generating a faster speed when no load is present. The second stage inner screw is engaged when a load is present and a slower speed with greater mechanical advantage is required.

  • Patent number: 11279602
Abstract: A portable lifting jack has a drivable mechanism operating a jack shaft formed of telescoping lifting screws. A microprocessor controls power to selectively turn electric motor to drive the operating mechanism. An in-line current draw sensor senses electric load of the motor and communicates this to the microprocessor. One detected electrical load is an electric load spike indicative that the jack shaft has contacted a mechanical load. A potentiometer connected to the operating mechanism senses extended position of the telescoping lifting screws and communicates this position to the microprocessor, which is programmed to derive when snug contact is achieved with an encountered mechanical load and to pause operation of the electric motor. In a synchronized array of jacks, all are paused to await further operator input, which may be coordinated through a remote control.

It comprises a set of chains of blocks (2) to put in front of the wheels and that are connected by straps (3.6) to a system that will pull them under the wheels while pushing the car by reaction. The forces come from a lever system consisting of a main bar with a triangular part fixed underneath and near its front end. When the operator lifts the bar, the displacement of the extremities of the triangular part away from the wheels creates a pull on the straps while the front end of the bar pushes the car. The blocks become the fulcrum of this lever system. Alternately, a winch fixed on the car bumper pulls on the straps via deviation rollers or rings, transmitting the reaction pushing forces to the car rear part.

Abstract: A motor-operated jack for vehicles includes a lifting unit, which includes a spiral lifting ram having an internal thread limitedly formed at a lower portion of the spiral lifting ram, and a pin held in a horizontal groove formed at the top end of a primary screw. This pin is slightly projected into two longitudinal holes symmetrically formed at the top portion of a secondary screw. There is also a coil spring, a spring cover and a snap ring sequentially laid on the top of the pin. There is also a support ram, having a top support and an external thread, movably fitted in a gap between the secondary screw and the spiral lifting ram while engaging with an internal thread of the spiral lifting ram at the external thread, thus allowing a user to control the moving stroke of the lifting unit as desired.

Abstract: A hollow housing of a screw-type jack is integrally formed by a press. A ram is mounted in the center portion inside this housing in an axial direction to be extendable/contractible in a vertical direction. A drive mechanism mounted in the housing, for extending/contracting this ram in the vertical direction, and in which the housing includes a cylindrical shaft portion protrudingly disposed on a lower part of a side surface of the housing. A drive gear is pivotally and rotatably supported in the cylindrical shaft portion. The housing is made up of a plurality of housing pieces which are vertically divided portions of the housing. The housing pieces are mechanically joined to each other to form the housing. The housing pieces are divided in a vertical direction cutting though the axis of the cylindrical shaft portion. Joining of the housing pieces can use rivets or joining pieces can be swaged over protruding flanges.

  • Patent number: 6435048
Abstract: A compact telescopic leg assembly includes a generally cylindrical drive motor mounted axially within the inner leg and coupled to a drive collar by a pedestal mount. A drive screw is threadably coupled to a first drive collar which is attached to the inner leg to raise and lower as the drive screw is rotated by the motor. The pedestal mount couples the motor through the first drive collar to a second drive collar which is coupled to an intermediate leg telescopically receiving the inner leg. Gears couple the motor-driven drive screw to a rotatable power nut coupled to the second drive collar. A fixed drive screw extends from the base within an outer leg upwardly through the second drive collar and cooperates with the power nut within the second drive collar to simultaneously extend and retract the legs as the motor rotates the motor-driven drive screw.

  • Patent number: 5664762
Abstract: A screw jack (20) includes a stand (21) which houses a side gear (58) which, when rotated, turns a bottom gear assembly (67). An inner screw (73) is connected to the bottom gear assembly (67) and thus turns therewith. Because of an interaction with an outer screw (77), rotation of the inner screw (73) initially causes a tube assembly (24) to move axially relative to a hexagonally shaped sleeve (23). A hex nut (81) is attached to the lower end of the tube assembly (24) to prevent rotation of the tube assembly (24). The nut (81) threadably engages the outer screw (77) and at one stage during the use of the jack (20), the nut (81) also engages a shoulder (82) of the sleeve (23) so that upon continued rotation of the screw (73), the tube assembly (24) and sleeve (23) move axially together. A load bearing assembly (25) is carried at the top of the tube assembly (24) and is adapted to be positioned under the frame or other component of a vehicle to be lifted.
