Abstract: The present invention relates to a prestretched polyethylene film having a longitudinal stretch ratio of from about 1:2 to about 1:4 and having a longitudinal elongation capability of at least 170%, said elongation capability comprising an elastic component. The invention also relates to a method for producing said film and to a method of wrapping compressed bulk material such as a round bale using said film, the method comprising further stretching the prestretched film and applying the film around the compressed bulk material in direct contact therewith. The film according to the invention may be used as a net replacement film and allows increasing the efficiency and the economics in the baling process by allowing faster baling, use of a lesser amount of wrapping film and/or improved protection of the product.

  • Patent number: 4293508
Abstract: A method and device for longitudinally stretching polymeric film, characterized by the strict isolation of the tensioning operation from the heating and the cooling operations of the film, by the symmetrical heating and cooling of the film, and by carrying out the heating of the film in two stages, namely preheating by means of diffused IR-radiation, and a full heating, preferably along a line, by means of bundled IR-radiation. The film stretched in this manner meets high standards of flatness and surface quality, and is subject to minimum waste losses and is especially useful in the photographic field.

  • Patent number: 4232435
Abstract: A stretching machine for treating removable belts supported on rollers, such as felts and wires in paper-making machines. The stretching machine comprises two rollers over which the belt is suspended, at least one of said rollers being adapted to be heated. A lifting device is inserted between the heatable roller and the belt, such that the belt can be held raised up from the roller.

  • Patent number: 4055612
Abstract: Relatively inflexible travelling webs, such as carpets or rugs having a coating on the reverse side thereof, are guided in a convoluted path around a plurality of guide rollers, and in this path they are heated by being subjected to steam heat, hot air heat, heat-producing radiation or heat derived from other sources.

  • Patent number: 3962760
Abstract: An apparatus for expanding a laminating interlayer is disclosed. The apparatus includes structure for feeding a heated web of laminating interlayer material to a conical member. A stretching of the web occurs between the feeding structure and the conical member. The web is cooled on the conical member. The apparatus also includes structure which maximizes the yield from the web being stretched.

  • Patent number: 3961651
Abstract: Apparatus for heat treating thermoplastic fabric at the loom is illustrated including an elongated housing extending across the full width of the loom having a passageway therethrough dividing the housing into opposed chambers, one of which carries a heating element and the other, a reflector so that the fabric is heated from both sides, and a gripping means is disclosed for tensioning the fabric in open width as it passes the heater means with a suction device for removing gases and fumes generated by heating of the thermoplastic fabric to elevated temperatures.
