The screw-type conveying apparatus includes a casing pipe allowing the empty cans to pass therethrough; and a shaft portion disposed within the casing pipe and having a screw portion formed on the circumferential surface thereof. The shaft portion is formed of a pipe having oil discharge holes formed thereon at predetermined intervals.

    Abstract: Method of reheating metallurgical products, in which solid products, especially steel products, are reheated so as to bring them from a temperature substantially below 400° C. to a temperature of at least about 1000° C. by passing them through a furnace having an upstream zone in which the said products are preheated and a downstream zone in which the said products are brought to their final temperature on leaving the furnace, the downstream zone of the furnace being fitted with burners, at least some of which operate with an oxidizer which is air, the smoke (flue gases) generated by these burners flowing as a countercurrent to the products and preheating these products in the upstream preheating zone. According to the invention, at least one burner is placed in the upstream preheating zone of the furnace, this burner being fed with a mixture of oxidizer and fuel, the oxidizer containing more than 21 vol % and preferably more than 30 vol % oxygen.

The transport apparatus comprises several driving devices (DE1, DE2, DE3, DE3' AND DE4) which are individually regulated by a regulation circuit (UC) to at least three speeds including an input speed (V1), a treatment speed (V2) and an output speed (V3) to divide the treatment line into sectors so that locally along the treatment line the baskets move at different speeds.

    Abstract: Similar to a paddle wheel, a rotary magazine for storing and conveying articles is mounted to turn about a horizontal axis and has radially extending vanes spaced around and fixed to the periphery of a central cylinder. At an accessible region an article is loaded axially into the space between an adjacent pair of vanes. It is kept from falling out by support from a cylindrical surface separate from the magazine and spaced slightly beyond the outermost tips of the vanes. The surface partially encircles the magazine from its lowermost region up to the level where the article will not fall out. A single ejector ejects in the axial direction each article in turn as rotation of the magazine carries it from the loading region to an ejection location.Optionally, an article can be treated, e.g. cooled, heated, irradiated, etc. in a treating chamber located on the path between loading region and ejection location.

    Abstract: An apparatus for eliminating chevron cracks or other imperfections in the surface of elongate billets as billets pass vertically downwardly through a heating chamber, including a plurality of plasma arc torches. The heating chamber contains a billet mold having an opening complementary in size and shape to the cross-sectional shape of the billet. Heat imparted to the billet in the upper portion of the chamber melts surface portions of the billet. Molten material discharged from the surface portions of the billet forms a pool in an area above the mold opening. As the billet passes through the pool, some of the molten material reattaches itself to the billet surfaces. Billet conveyors pivotally movable between horizontal and vertical positions transport billets to and from the heating chamber, and control the rate at which the billets move through such chamber and through a cooling chamber located beneath the heating chamber.

The detonated gaseous mixture is directed down the conical combustion chamber in expanding fashion to the articles which are to be de-burred, which articles are stored in a receptacle in axial alignment with the conical-shaped combustion chamber. During detonation, the burrs and other roughage are removed from the articles, while the remainder of each article is kept in tact.

    Abstract: An apparatus for heating materials such as aluminum billets to a temperature suitable for extrusion is disclosed. The apparatus has at least two zones arranged in tandem, a preheat zone and one or more primary heating zones. Every zone has inner and outer chambers. The outer chamber is supplied with high temperature gas at a pressure in excess of that of the inner chamber. The chambers are separated by baffles which define narrow slot-like aspirating throats through which secondary gases from a secondary source are jetted after entraining high temperature gases from the primary chamber. The secondary gases are at a lower temperature to provide efficient impingement of the gases on a target such as a billet with the primary gases providing the principle heat source. The apparatus is of the closed type utilizing rapid recycling of gases for efficient use of thermal energy.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for flame hardening the inner wall surface of tube bends of a circular configuration wherein either a flame hardening burner is passed longitudinally through the internal cavity of a tube bend which is mounted in a fixed position, or alternatively the tube bend is moved over a stationary flame hardening burner. This relative movement between tube bend and burner is effected along a circular path corresponding to the longitudinal center line of the tube bend. Subsequently to flame hardening the heated inner wall surface of the tube bend is quenched with cooling water discharged from water sprinklers disposed downstream of the flame hardening zone. During flame hardening and quenching the tube bend is continuously maintained in positions such that the quenching water may leave the tube bend by gravity.
