Patent number: 10415885Abstract: A pallet car for conveying material to be processed is disclosed. The pallet car includes first and second sidewalls formed from sidewall members that each include a metal frame and a heat-resistant liner, such as formed from refractory. The refractory formed on the metal frame of the sidewall members provides insulation for the metal frame without the need for a hearth layer of pre-processed material in the material bed of the pallet car. The sidewall member including the refractory layer increases the effective volume of the pallet car, which increases the overall efficiency of the furnace and material processing procedure.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2016Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Metso Minerals Industries, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Mark Pancher, Neil Raymond Dock

Patent number: 6656414Abstract: A device for continuously measuring the temperature in pelletizing furnaces basically comprised of a plurality of temperature detectors (1, 2) disposed at fixed sites on the grate car (10) that follow the latter along the furnace and inform continuously and instantaneously the actual burning temperature of the product at the detected site through data collectors and measuring units; said data collectors being enclosed in housings (20) which also are attached to the grate car (10) in order to follow the latter while it moves through the interior of the furnace.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Companhia Vale Do Rion DoceInventors: Claudemir Chateaubriand De Souza, Noboru Yamane

Patent number: 5472179Abstract: An insert for use with a cooling bed plate transfer grid including a plurality of longitudinal side grid members and a plurality of transverse cross grid members extending between the side grid members and coacting therewith to define a plurality of grid pockets, each sized to removably receive an insert. The insert includes a housing sized to fit in the pocket and including front and rear end flange portions adapted to seat on successive cross members. The housing is fixedly secured to the successive cross members by J bolts which extend downwardly and beneath the respective cross members for clamping engagement with the respective cross members. The housing further defines a central slot in which a roller is mounted. The roller is mounted on the central journal portion of a pin and the pin further includes rectangular end portions slidably received in vertical slots defined by the housing at opposite sides of the roller.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1994Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Allor Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Bernard J. Wendt, Darryl R. Wendt

Patent number: 5143356Abstract: A sintering machine having a train of grate cars containing grates for supporting material to be sintered, rails along which the grate cars travel, a plurality of suction boxes arranged beneath the travel path of the grate cars and connected to suction means so as to create a partial vacuum beneath the grates, and sealing means for sealing the suction boxes to the grate cars. To reduce air leakage, the sealing means comprises, at atleast one side of said grate cars, a casing structure enclosing the rail and provided with at least one flexible air seal to the grate cars.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Hoogovens Groep BVInventor: Hubertus A. Patent number: 4289485Abstract: There is disclosed a traveling grate apparatus wherein materials are treated at an elevated temperature for purposes such as sintering, pelletizing, calcining, and the like. In such apparatus, a grate and upstanding side plates form a channel for carrying the material along. Each side plate has along its inner face a bench for holding the material to be treated. As the treatment of material effects changes in the volume of the material, the material tends to lose contact with the side wall, but, by resting on the bench, a seal is provided to prevent direct passage of gases through the bed in the sidewall sections.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1979Date of Patent: September 15, 1981Assignee: Koppers Company, Inc.Inventors: Anthony A. Latowski, William P. Grib

Patent number: 4272306Abstract: PCT No. PCT/US79/00792 Sec. 371 Date Sept. 27, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date Sept. 27, 1979 PCT Filed Sept. 27, 1979Parts (12) to be treated are placed in grid bottomed tubs (14a,14b,14c) and the tubs (14a,14b,14c) are stacked one upon the other. A flow of treating gas is directed exteriorly about and internally through the tubs (14a,14b,14c) from an entrance end (26) to an exit end (28). If the parts (12) in the entrance tub or tubs (14a,14b) are sufficiently but not overly treated, it has been found that the parts (12) near the exit end (28) of tub or tubs (14b,14c) are not sufficiently treated. If the parts (12) near the exit end (28) tub or tubs (14b,14c) are sufficiently treated, then the parts (12) in the entrance end (26) of tub or tubs (14a,14b) are over treated.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1979Date of Patent: June 9, 1981Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: George E.
