Abstract: A modular board game apparatus has a segmental playing surface comprising pairs of segments which are variously configured to provides a surface whose shape and playing area may be changed according to the requirements of a particular game. The segments facilitate versions of games normally only played between two players (such as chess and draughts) to be played by two, three or four people (Configurations II, III and IV). The board shapes described are each proportional in area to the number of players, are symmetrical, and may be variously patterned (6,7). A preferred embodiment comprising eight quadrilateral segments (3) that may be arranged in differing orientations, assembled and secured about a central point by means of a restraining ring (2) is illustrated. Segment sets comprising variously shaped segments of differing thickness can be assembled to simulate undulating terrain.

  • Patent number: 6416055
Abstract: A board game and method for teaching negotiation, advocacy and judicial decision-making skills to players, in which a board is providing having spaces upon which players may randomly, sequentially land. One of the players is determined at the outset to be the judge. The remaining players move about the board. The spaces conform to a plurality of categories, and pre-mixed questions, typically contained on cards, are sequentially read each time someone lands upon the space conforming to that category. The player who lands must answer the question; the other players must determine whether to object. Where an objection occurs, the players are placed in a debaters box, for a debating period. During that period, as determined by the judge, the players debate the issue and the judge, who provides full judicial making authority for the game, determines the protocol and the outcome of the debate. Where the outcome is a success to the objecting player, a letter is forfeited by the non-objecting player to him.

Each of the game spaces is colored a color selected from the group consisting of green, orange, blue, red, yellow, brown and white. Each of a plurality of overlays is positionable on one of the game paths. Each of the overlays generally has the shape of one of the game paths such that each of the overlays may be positioned over one of the quadrants. Each of the overlays is substantially transparent. Each of the overlays has a plurality of symbols thereon. A first die is a six sided die, wherein each of the sides has a different indicia thereon indicating a number 1 through 6.

Abstract: The manipulable puzzle of the present invention includes a housing, multiple sliding bars, and multiple movable pieces. The housing has a support surface with an area defined by walls. The sliding bars are retained on the support surface by overhangs extending from opposing walls such that the sliding bars are removable and can slide across the support surface. The sliding bars each have a channel and peak pattern through which the movable pieces are slid as the sliding bars are manipulated to provide adjacent channels for the movable pieces to move through.

Abstract: A tessellating board game which combined with game rules simulates the economic development of single or multiple star planetary systems in which choices made by competing parties influencing each other's economic prospects have ramifications modeled by a subsuming moral dynamic, affecting player destiny as moral or karmic law analogous to natural law. Also simulated is a complex gravitational field of a star and its planets, either for a single star in the unistellar game version or for multiple stars in the multistellar game version, and players must plot spacecraft trajectories within those gravitational fields, adjusting spacecraft speed and direction using planetary encounters and fuel decrement, and, in the multistellar game, using hyperspace jump locations to transcend the constraint of distance.

A spinner directs a player to place a character on the staircase at a specific location, to skip a turn, or remove an opposing player's character from the staircase. The winner is the first player to have all of her characters reach the end of the staircase. The staircase includes stationary and movable components that serially move the characters from one step to the next with a reciprocating motion of the movable component relative to the stationary component. Abstract: A strategy game with the flavor of Tic Tac Toe embodied in both two dimensional(planar) and three dimensional (cubic) configurations. Each consists of a lattice type matrix forming a plurality of interconnected adjacent open cubes. The playing members are spherical and player differentiated by color. These player balls are inserted into the matrix alternately by the players and scoring is achieved by ball patterns; e.g., three in a row or nine in a single plane. The uniqueness in this game is the ability of the player balls to move from one cube to another in the matrix by the players forcing one ball against another. This capability dramatically increases scoring and blocking opportunities.
