Abstract: A portable firing berm adapted to capture bullets fired at the berm. The portable berm has a frame assembly defining exterior boundaries of the berm and forming an opening through which bullets fired at the berm enter the berm. A bullet containment portion is communicating with the opening, the bullet containment portion arranged such that unspent bullets received in the bullet containment portion impact against, are stopped and contained by the bullet containment portion. The frame assembly has a moveable wall moveable from a first position to a second position, without removal from the frame assembly, so that the berm is configurable between a transport and placement configuration of the berm and an operating configuration of the berm substantially without disassembly of the frame assembly.

Abstract: A device for simulating the torso of an animal or human to determine projectile performance is provided, comprising a support frame; and a plurality of selectively removable simulant inserts, including a hide simulant insert, a muscle simulant insert, a bone simulant insert, and one or more internal organ simulant insert, and wherein the simulant inserts are placed within the support frame in a predetermined order specific to the type of animal or human being simulated. The support frame includes a mounting device to secure the support frame to a ground surface, and a base adapted to orient the support frame at a selectable angle relative to a projectile path. The support frame further includes a locking device adapted to secure the simulant inserts to the support frame. In a preferred embodiment, the locking device includes a fastener slidably disposed within a slot formed in the support frame, and an extended member adapted to contact one of the simulant inserts.

Abstract: A bullet trap apparatus is provided for capturing an associated bullet traveling along a substantially linear trajectory. The bullet trap apparatus includes a support frame and a flowable material disposed on an upper surface of the support frame. The support frame has an upper surface configured to support associated material. The flowable material is disposed on the upper surface of the support frame substantially on the linear trajectory, and includes a plurality of sheets of substantially rectangular material. Each of the sheets are configured for deflecting the associated bullet from its substantially linear path and absorbing energy from the associated bullet by the deflecting, thereby slowing the traveling of the associated bullet through the flowable material. The flowable material includes a plurality of sheets of substantially rectangular material, each of the sheets including a rubber material and one or more sheets of a fabric material formed of woven strands coupled with the rubber material.
