Abstract: A solenoid actuated valve (10) holds pressure and volume of an accumulator with low leakage and provides low actuation drag during a release stroke for dumping fluid contents of the accumulator at very low current draw. Two elongate valve members (10a, 10b) are assembled to be movable axially relative to one another with a gland or groove (10c) formed in one of the two valve members (10a). An o-ring (12) located within the groove (10c) is in a non-contacting relationship to the other valve member (10b) when in a non-energized state. An energizer ring (14) located within the groove (10c) can reciprocate axially with respect to the o-ring (12). The energizer ring (14) moves axially toward the o-ring (12) in response to fluid pressure against a surface (14a) of the energizer ring (14) opposite from the o-ring (12) to axially compresses the o-ring (12), causing the o-ring (12) to expand radially outwardly into sealing contact with the other valve member (10b).

Abstract: A seal and fixation assembly includes a cylindrical target having an inside surface with a shoulder that forms a stop within the target. A target retaining ring is disposed about the target. A seal plate is disposed within the target and engages the stop and the inside surface of the target. An end cap is disposed on the end of the target and includes a portion with a beveled surface within the target. A sealing element is disposed between the inside surface of the target, the seal plate, and the beveled surface of the end cap. A clamp is disposed over the end cap and the target retaining ring. Engagement of the end cap and the target retaining ring with the clamp causes the end cap to move within the target toward the stop to compress the sealing element between the target, the seal plate, and the beveled surface.

Abstract: A system, in certain embodiments, includes a seal assembly having a seal body. The seal body includes an inlet buffer port and an outlet eduction port. The inlet buffer port is configured to receive a compressed buffer gas, such as shop air, which is injected into the inlet buffer port. The compressed buffer gas blocks the flow of a compressed process gas, such as land fill gas, by opposing the flow of the compressed process gas through the seal assembly. Both the compressed buffer gas and the compressed process gas may be expelled through the outlet eduction port.

Abstract: A seal assembly is for sealing a space between a housing and a shaft rotatable about a central axis. The seal assembly includes a seal body connectable with the housing and having an inner circumferential sealing surface. The sealing surface has opposing axial ends and is slidably contactable with the shaft outer surface to define a sealing interface. An annular biasing member, preferably a garter spring, is disposed about a portion of the seal body and has a centerline. The biasing member exerts a biasing force directed radially inwardly toward the centerline, such that the seal exerts a contact pressure on the shaft. Further, the biasing member is angularly positioned on the seal body such that the contact pressure extends axially along the shaft axis to direct substances entering the sealing interface toward a proximal axial end of the sealing surface when the shaft rotates about the central axis.
