Circumferential Contact Seal For Other Than Piston Patents (Class 277/500)
  • Patent number: 11761541
Abstract: A seal assembly is for sealing a bearing disposed between an inner shaft and an outer hub and includes an annular inner case having an axial section disposable about the shaft shoulder and a radial section extending radially outwardly from the axial section. An annular outer case is disposed about the inner case, has an axial section coupleable with the hub and a radial section extending radially inwardly from the outer case axial section and spaced axially from the inner case radial section. An elastomeric seal member is attached to the outer case radial section and has a sealing lip sealingly engaged with the axial section of the inner case. An annular positioner is coupled with the inner case and has a radial section engageable with the axial end of the bearing inner ring so as to locate the inner case at a desired position along the central axis.

  • Patent number: 11686391
Abstract: The end seal with self-sealing insert includes a flexible, or compressible body, and a stiffer insert to reduce wear caused by the rotating anilox roller. The end seal with self-sealing insert places the recesses within the body beneath an expanded insert. The insert, when under pressure, seals the holes of the body, preventing introduction and accumulation of solvents. The result is a degradation-resistant end seal. By having extensions, also referred to as posts or legs, protruding from the insert that pass into the body, the reliance on adhesives is avoided. The reduction of the use of adhesives is helpful because adhesives are sensitive to solvents used in ink and to cleaning solutions. In the preferred embodiment, circular posts extend downward from the insert, passing into circular holes in the body.

Abstract: A disc brake for a motor vehicle, wherein it is possible to displace the actuating piston in the housing both by hydraulic pressure activation of a hydraulic chamber formed in the housing and via a mechanical actuator, wherein the sealing ring is accommodated in an annular groove formed in the housing. Provision is made here for the annular groove to have a groove floor, which runs substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the piston, and two groove walls, which adjoin the groove floor, wherein—as seen in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the piston—a first groove wall is directed away from the hydraulic chamber and a second groove wall is directed towards the hydraulic chamber, wherein the first groove wall merges into the groove floor via a rounded or bevelled transition region at a varying distance from the longitudinal axis of the piston.

  • Patent number: 9027934
Abstract: Due to increasingly strict requirements and regulations, it is becoming more and more important for piston compressors to reduce the amount of leakage of operating medium through the seal of the piston rod. Conventional seals comprising packing rings and/or packing ring combinations always have a certain amount of leakage, both during operation and when at standstill, which is why they are not usable for certain applications, or the complexity involved in such a seal increases considerably. A further problem involving the seals of piston rods relates to transverse movements by piston rods during which the sealing action of the seal must be maintained. Proposed is, therefore, a sealing arrangement according to the principle of a sealing medium barrier providing that the sealing elements 8, 9 are arranged in radial direction at a distance relative to the radial end of the recess 10 that receives the sealing elements 8, 9.

Abstract: A seal assembly includes an annular static sealing member disposed within an annular channel in a housing or shaft. An annular dynamic sealing member is disposed coaxially within or about the static member and has a circumferential sealing surface engageable with the shaft or housing. An annular biasing member is disposed radially between the static and dynamic sealing members and is configured to bias the dynamic sealing member radially to maintain engagement of the sealing surface and the shaft or housing. The static member is configured to prevent relative angular displacement between the static and biasing members and the dynamic member is configured to prevent relative angular displacement between the dynamic and biasing members. As such, the dynamic sealing member, the biasing member and the static sealing member angularly displace within the channel as a single unit when torque above a particular magnitude is applied to the dynamic sealing member.

Abstract: A packing seal for a reciprocating pump of the type typically used in connection with oil and gas drilling operations is described. Generally, the seal includes a rigid L shaped cartridge that carries an outer wiper and an O-ring on an exterior wall and a recessed seal body on an interior wall. The recessed seal body is of dual durometer, and its lower portion is constantly urged against the cylinder wall in self-sealing fashion. The seals, cartridge and wiper may be formed from rigid and/or non-rigid materials having low coefficients of friction and physical properties comprising low abrasion and wear resistance. The seal provides an improved self-lubricated unitary seal that is convenient to replace in the field regardless of the torque delivered to the gland nut of a packing box, which contains the seal.
