Abstract: The present invention relates to a fuel tank mounting structure for a vehicle which includes a rear floor panel forming a rear portion floor, a first cross member disposed in front of and under the rear floor panel and extending in a vehicle width direction, and a second cross member disposed rearward of the first cross member and extending in the vehicle width direction. A fuel tank is supported by belts stretched between the first and the second cross members so as to abut on an undersurface of the rear floor panel via a resilient pad. Brackets are joined to the first cross member such that they project rearward of the first cross member, each of the belts is connected to the first cross member by the corresponding bracket, and the fuel tank abuts on a rear surface of each bracket via a second resilient pad.

  • Patent number: 8366152
Abstract: A tank mounting structure adopts a new approach against a force of moving downward a high-pressure tank transversely mounted on a vehicle. A tank mounting assembly has a winding strap and a restraining strap located on an upper side and a lower side of a high-pressure tank to transversely fix the high-pressure tank between a frame and a frame. This structure causes the high-pressure tank to be transversely mounted on the vehicle. A winding strap is wound on the high-pressure tank. A restraining strap extended from a fixing bracket of the winding strap is laid on the winding strap to be placed directly on an upper end portion of a circumferential wall of the high-pressure tank and is fastened to the frame.

  • Patent number: 8297655
Abstract: A fuel tank mounting mechanism which enhances backward visibility of an operator and performs the loading/unloading work of a fuel tank by a single motion to improve replacement workability. In the mechanism for mounting a fuel tank (30) on a counterweight (8) provided in the rear of an industrial vehicle, the front upper surface of the counterweight (8) is dented to form a recess (9) for receiving the fuel tank (30) in the width direction of the body. The recess (9) is provided with an arm (14) having a member (15) for fixing the fuel tank (30), and the arm (14) is supported rotatably for the body fixing portion through an arm rotating shaft (13) and arranged to rotate about the shaft (13) as the center of rotation to the right or left side in a vertical plane. The arm (14) hangs down from the body side when it rotates.

  • Patent number: 8287000
Abstract: A fluid tank (20) has at least two deaeration ports (24,25) provided in at least two upper regions of the tank. A first conduit (30) is connected at one end to one deaeration port (24) and connected at its other end to a compensating reservoir (50) at a higher level. At least one additional conduit (40) is connected at one end to an other deaeration port (25) and also connected at its other end to the compensating reservoir (50). A filter (60) is connected with the upper part of the reservoir to allow air to escape from the reservoir. The height of the compensating reservoir (50) above the tank (20) ensures that the filter (60) is protected from immersion in tank fluid and deaeration is ensured at normal working inclinations of the tank. The tank may be provided by part of the chassis of a tractor which is located below a cab of the tractor.

  • Patent number: 8282132
Abstract: A passenger motor vehicle (1) has a passenger compartment (3) and a fuel tank module (4) is in the passenger compartment (3). The module (4) has first and second chambers (19, 20). The first chamber (19) holds a tank bladder and a catch tank (32) is arranged within the tank bladder. The second chamber (20) holds a fuel pump unit (33). The module (4) is sealed off from remaining areas of the passenger compartment (3), and fuel lines to the module (4) and from the module (4) to the internal combustion engine are arranged outside the passenger compartment (3). Thus, a high level of safety for the vehicle occupant is ensured despite the accommodation of the fuel module in the passenger compartment, and substantially complete emptying of the fuel in the fuel module is possible.

Abstract: A device comprises a fuel line that carries a combustible fuel including gasoline, a first optical channel that evaluates a degree of absorption at a first wavelength spectrum of light transmitted through the combustible fuel within the fuel line, and a second optical channel that evaluates a degree of absorption at a second wavelength spectrum. The first and second wavelength spectrums consists of wavelengths of between about 800 nanometers (nm) and about 1200 nm. The device further comprises a controller configured to receive inputs from the first and second optical channels representing the degrees of absorption at the first and second wavelength spectrums, correlate the degrees of absorption with proportions of ethanol and water in the combustible fuel, and output data corresponding to the proportions of ethanol and water to a controller of a combustion engine fed with the combustible fuel.

As a result, a front surplus space (15A) projected in the upper and lower directions in a range of the front flange portion (14A1) of the top surface plate is formed in the front surface side of the front surface plate. A urea water tank (24) is arranged along the fuel tank (12) in such a manner that a rear side portion thereof enters into the front surplus space portion. Therefore, the rear side portion of the urea water tank can enter into the front surplus space using the front surplus space formed in the fuel tank (12), thereby increasing the tank capacity without downsizing the article accommodating box (16).
