Abstract: A security-enhanced document includes a substrate and variable indicia comprising ink having a signal. The variable indicia is of a specific type and is applied to the substrate using a specific application technique. At least one other printed portion, which is a back of the document, has background ink noise, and the type of ink of the back of the document is of the same type of ink applied to the substrate using the same application technique as the ink of the variable indicia. The document also includes a scratch-off-coating applied over the variable indicia. The document has a signal-to-noise ratio of the ink of the variable indicia relative to the background ink noise of the back of the document that is not appreciable, thereby making the variable indicia unreadable with reference to the back of the document when the scratch-off-coating remains intact.

Abstract: A delivery safety ensuring method for a wearable delivery system, comprising two major steps to double-ensure that an instruction sent from a smart device trying to control the wearable delivery device reflects the true intention of the user. The first step is to restrict a delivery amount instructed by smart device within a pre-determined range using an alternative physical key, and the second step is to require authentication using an independent authentication tool through proximity communication. Both steps of the safety ensuring method require no open network access, solving the problem of the smart device being vulnerable to program failure and external viruses so as to enhance delivery safety, especially against malicious external attacks from open network. A wearable delivery system using this method is further provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a data carrier and a method for making the data carrier. More particularly, this invention relates to color laser marking of article, especially security documents. The present invention proposes a security document comprising a multilayers assembly instead of a single color component mixture in a layer. The multilayer assembly comprises at least two laser sensitive layer. Each layer comprises at least one coloring agent component. The order arrangement of the multilayers of bleachable coloring agent component is made so that each layer behaves as a wavelength filter configured to selectively transmit longer wavelengths and block or attenuate shorter wavelengths while protecting the underneath coloring agent component from bleaching interference.

Abstract: A secure substrate may include a base layer and an opacity layer disposed above the base layer. An optional background layer may be disposed above the opacity layer. The secure substrate may further include an inkjet receptive layer. A first inkjet receptive layer may be disposed above the background layer, and a second inkjet layer may be disposed below the base layer. The opacity layer may include copper such as metallic copper flakes or other particles. The opacity layer may also include a binder material such as polyvinyl alcohol, and in some cases also carbon black, process black, or the like.

Abstract: A visual-information security system that includes an information security label positioned to conceal visual information on a substrate. The information security label may include a spiral-shaped cut (or other complex shape) within the body of the label and a pull-tab, such that when a user pulls on the tab, the label peels off of the substrate in a spiral pattern, revealing the information concealed beneath the label. The complex-shaped cut makes reapplication of the label difficult and evident, thus providing security to consumers. The label may include multiple layers of material, for example, a peel-off layer and an adhesive layer.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content providing, generating and/or hosting systems supported by or configured with personal computing devices, servers and/or platforms. The systems interact to identify and retrieve data within or across platforms, which can be used to improve the security and quality of data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed systems and methods provide added security features and functionality to messaging platforms.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for in-line manufacture of a security document with a structured security element is provided in which a continuous web of document substrate is fed through a series of processing stations. The processing stations include a station for forming a structured security element in a radiation sensitive coating applied to the document substrate, and at least one station for applying at least one additional layer to the document substrate excluding the security element area. In a security document manufactured with the method or apparatus, the additional layer or layers have a combined thickness which is preferably substantially equal to the height of the structured security element or which differs from the height of the structured security element by a predetermined amount.

Abstract: The present technology provides dynamic security code systems and method for their creation and use. The systems include a base layer including a first pattern and a sublimating compound layer including a plurality of materials selectively covering the base layer. In some embodiments, each of the plurality of materials is configured to sublimate at respective sublimation rates. The system further includes a shielding layer configured to shield the base layer and the sublimating compound layer to form a security code. The shielding layer can be configured to control a diffusion rate of the plurality of materials through the shielding layer such that the security code is changed.

Abstract: A disposable fluidic cartridge has a recess therein. A mechanically-actuated mechanism is disposed within the recess for effecting an operation of the fluidic cartridge. The cartridge further comprises a machine-readable identification code on a breakable label covering at least a portion of the recess such that the portion of the breakable label covering the recess may be broken upon insertion of a mechanical actuator into the recess to actuate the mechanically-actuated mechanism. This renders the identification code unreadable and prevents reuse of the cartridge.

Abstract: A method for producing scratch-off lottery tickets in a high speed printing line is provided, wherein the printing line includes one or more inkjet printing machines that print lottery tickets on a continuously running paper stock. One or more primer layers are applied to a surface of the paper stock in a defined game play area on each lottery ticket. With the inkjet printing machines game play indicia is printed over the primer layers in the game play area on each lottery ticket at a resolution of at least 600 dpi. The running paper stock is conveyed through the inkjet printing machines at a rate of at least 950 ft./min. The ink jet printing machines use a specially formulated dye-based ink.

Abstract: A system and method for on-vehicle merchandising is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention combine vehicle specific information and standard detailed information about a vehicle and render multiple decals on a printed sheet for the vehicle, which forms an on-vehicle merchandising kit. The decals include pertinent information, such as price, and vehicle options. Mobile linked data, such as quick response codes, URLs, and text keywords are also included in the kit.

Abstract: A card, such as a payment card, or other device may include an electronics package. The electronics package may include electronic components mounted on a flexible, printed circuit board. The electronics package may be laminated (e.g., via a hot, cold, or molding lamination process) between layers of transparent polymer. A hologram may be fixed to one side of the electronics package such that the hologram may be viewed from the exterior of the laminated card having transparent polymer layers. As such, the hologram may not be removed without breaching the integrity of a transparent polymer layer.

Abstract: A method for portable lottery ticket sales and redemptions by mobile vendors is provided wherein the vendor have an existing credit or debit card processing interchange. The vendor is provided with a portable local processor having a memory, and with a local printer connected to the local processor. The local processor is in wireless communication with a network. A bank identification number (BIN) is assigned to lottery tickets sold or redeemed by the vendor that is unique to lottery tickets in the vendor's existing credit or debit card processing interchange. The unique lottery BIN is also associated with a lottery data blob provided on the lottery ticket.

Abstract: A data carrier provides health related information regarding a patient, and facilitates compliance with HIPAA by the obscuring the association between the name of the patient and the health related information when the data carrier is to be discarded. The data carrier includes a release liner, a health information label having an upper surface and a lower surface, the label including a first area on the upper surface for indicia specifying health related information and a second area on the upper surface for indicia specifying the identity of a patient, and a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the lower surface of the health information label, securing the health information label to the release liner. A masking label is either integral with the health information label, or the liner.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a layered image assembly and a marketing method are provided including a passive consumer behavior tracking method without requiring an “opt-in” process. The layered image assembly includes a base layer and a top layer with an inner area formed between. An opening is provided within a perimeter of the base layer to provide access to the inner layer. The inner layer is provided with a media that may comprise coupons, offers, advertisements, collapsible springs, animated collapsible springs having an image, etc. The media may include one or more symbols for conveying information. The layered image assembly may be attached to an item, such as a substrate, envelope, package, magazine, etc. The customer information relating to the item may be associated, or merged, with the information from the one or more symbols from the media. This merging of information may be used to track customer purchases, customer information, and the like.

The correction parameter calculator calculates a correction parameter including a first difference and a second difference. The first difference is an absolute value of a difference between a sample pixel value of a sample pixel to be corrected in the enlarged image block and the maximum pixel value. The second difference is an absolute value of a difference between the sample pixel value and the minimum pixel value. The corrector corrects the enlarged image block using the correction parameter.

The label or substrate carry the data to be protected such a printed or personalized paper or plastic substrate. In one aspect the scratch off region is patterned and also the data can comprise a pattern of alternate scratch off and permanent areas. In one aspect the label is a thin frangible structure delivered to the substrate with a weakly bound top carrier. In another aspect the optical variable device includes a covert image authenticated by a decoder carried on the top of the removable carrier.

The account identifier is statically connected to one of the cover, the sheet support member, and the plurality of separate sheet members and links the transaction product to a financial account.

Abstract: Described are a number of mechanisms that can reduce transaction costs and increase the economic viability of a number of products. Included is a combination instant lottery ticket and debit card that makes it possible to issue prepaid debit cards having a relatively low monetary value. Also included is a combination on-line ticket/receipt and debit card that can automate the prize paying process, simplifying the retailer's responsibilities while reducing the potential for fraud. Various cash flow and authentication techniques such as age and location verification, nano payment methods and spam filters based on these mechanisms are also described. In addition, instant lottery tickets, and in particular, losing tickets can be provided with a small residual value by placing account information on the ticket. In another version, a lottery ticket can be combined with a payment card that operates as a closed payment system whereby the payment card can only be used with a specified vendor.

Abstract: A business form includes a paper carrier sheet having an upper surface and a lower surface, a barrier layer on an area of the upper surface of the paper carrier sheet, a silicone coating extending over the barrier layer, and a label assembly. The label assembly includes a label ply and a pressure sensitive adhesive coating. The label assembly is secured to the silicone coating and to the upper surface of the carrier sheet by the pressure sensitive adhesive. The label ply has a die cut through it that defines a label portion and a lip portion. The label portion is secured only to the silicone coating, and the lip portion is secured to both the silicone coating and to the upper surface of the carrier sheet. When the business form is printed with a printer, such as a laser printer, the form moves through the printer in an orientation in which the lip portion leads the label assembly. This results in the label portion being less likely to be removed from the carrier sheet inadvertently.

Abstract: A scratch-off lottery ticket includes a substrate having at least one play area with play indicia provided thereon. A scratch-off layer is disposed over the play indicia. A luminescent material is disposed relative to the scratch-off layer and the play indicia such that unauthorized removal of the scratch-off layer in an attempt to reveal the underlying play indicia is rendered optically apparent upon subsequent excitation of the play area with an excitation source that excites the luminescent material.

Abstract: The invention relates to a customized multi-layer support which takes the general form of a card, such as an identification card. The support includes a card body, the upper face of which is provided with externally-visible personal information; and a film which is at least partially transparent and which is fixed to the upper face of the card body. The support has boundary lines which define the areas of the aforementioned film with reduced or increased mechanical strength. The invention also relates to a method of producing one such customized support.

The scratch-off layer may include a mass of a first solid ink and a mass of a second solid ink printed over the first solid ink in a distraction pattern. The toner image is formed of a toner that adheres to the substrate, while the scratch-off layer is made of a wax-based or other solid ink that may be removed from the substrate by scratching without removing the toner image. The distraction pattern includes varying pile heights that distract a viewer from any pile height variations that may exist in the toner image.

Abstract: A security-enhanced document, such as an instant lottery ticket, includes a substrate. Indicia is provided on the substrate, and a scratch-off-coating (SOC) layer is applied over the indicia to maintain the indicia unreadable until removal of the SOC layer. The indicia is printed onto the substrate as pigmented particles. One or more opacity film layers may be provided over or under the pigmented particle indicia.

A top layer includes a second adhesive on a bottom face surface that fixes the top layer to a top face surface of the base layer. Abstract: Solvent-based and water-based scratch-off materials are employed as single layers on a lottery ticket to create a more resistant ticket construction that still provides a satisfactory play experience. In one embodiment, two different scratch-off inks on the play area of the ticket are employed, with the majority of the ink being a softer, solvent-based, formulation. The ink covering sensitive areas of the ticket includes a harder, water-based, formulation.

Abstract: A lottery ticket is formed by a substrate layer with game data printed in a game area with a fixing layer applied over the game data and a scratch-off layer applied over the sealing layer, the scratch-off layer being arranged to separate from the sealing layer and break down into fragments when scratched by a player. A UV curable varnish is printed onto the opaque scratch-off layer either as a single block or as separate patterns. While the varnish remains uncured, an exposed surface of the varnish is contacted and nipped with a surface of a film which has the surface thereof embossed to form a pattern and with the film in contact with the varnish, the varnish is cured by UV light through the film so as to apply the pattern of the film into the surface of the varnish to provide a holographic appearance.
