  • Patent number: 7390031
Abstract: A coupling device for releasably interconnecting conduit elements includes two coupling members, each having a central opening therethrough. A tapered pocket is defined in one coupling member to act as a seat for slidingly receiving the other coupling member, which is in the form of a wedge-like element. An alignment mechanism ensures complete engagement between the two coupling members. Two annular grooves are disposed opposite each other about the central openings of the respective coupling members. A gasket is disposed in one of the grooves for engaging the opposite groove when the coupling members are fully interengaged. The gasket has a first annular portion of a compressible resilient material for positioning in one annular groove, and a second annular portion extending from the first annular portion, of a less compressible material, for compression into the first annular gasket portion as the coupling members are being interengaged.

Abstract: Firstly, using a cutting tool 30, connecting ribs 13 are cut off from the end face of a duplex pipe 10 which is held with an outer pipe 11 chucked (rib cutting step). Next, the duplex pipe 10 is cut at and from the end face of the duplex pipe 10 up to the portion thereof corresponding to the exposed length of the inner pipe 12 to thereby form a slit 21 in the outer pipe 11 and connecting ribs 13 (slit forming step) The cutting tool 30 comprises a guide hole 31 into which the inner pipe 12 can be inserted while guiding the inner pipe outer peripheral surface 12a, a cutting device 32 for cutting the connecting ribs 13, and a guide pin 33 which is disposed in the guide hole 31 and can be inserted into the inner pipe 12 while guiding the inner pipe inner peripheral surface 12b.

  • Patent number: 4971474
Abstract: A coupling device has a transversely arranged, open-end groove (30) in a flange attached to a pipe end. The groove in the flange receives a circumferentially arranged locking flange element (76) on the other coupling member and permits alignment of the bores of the coupling members when the locking flange element is in the open end groove. Upon alignment of the bores of the coupling members, a trigger member (60) is activiated to automatically release a spring biased tubular member (33) in one of the coupling members. The tubular member has a conical end (48) which is displaced into the other coupling member to lock the coupling members to one another. A tensioning nut (72) is threadedly movable on a coupling member so as to be moved into tightening engagement with the other coupling member.

  • Patent number: 4479511
Abstract: A combination one-way check valve and coupler assembly is shown for use in bleeding air from the wheel brake cylinders of automobiles and the like. This one-way check valve is adapted to be attached to a standard bleeder valve that is assembled to each wheel brake cylinder. One-way check valves have been used for this purpose before, but the present invention incorporates a coupler means between the one-way check valve and a standard bleeder valve that is positive and reliable in operation. This coupler means is in the form of a threaded nut that is threaded onto the inlet end of the valve body of the one-way check valve. The outermost end of this threaded nut is slotted from one side to create a spaced, three-sided flange that is capable of slipping over and behind the nipple of a standard bleeder valve so that when the nut is tigntened onto the check valve body, the nipple will be drawn into sealing engagement with a recessed valve seat of the inlet end of the check valve body.
