Needles Patents (Class 289/16)
  • Patent number: 8985642
Abstract: A method for applying a component of a package for a substance for infusion having a filter bag for containing a substance and a pickup tag for manually picking up the filter bag includes a method for knotting a string to at least one of the components, which has the steps of interposing, between a string which is held taut along a first axis and a needle having an open lateral eye and angled transversally to the axis of the string, at least one of the components of the package, the component being angled so that the plane in which it lies is substantially parallel with the axis of the string; hooking the string with a single needle and using a sequence of passes through the plane in which the component lies forming stitching, which knots at least two loops of the string that are linked together one after another; and tightening the stitching to stably knot the string to the one or each component of the package.

  • Patent number: 7878557
Abstract: A knotter had a twine holder, a bill hook, an arm carrying a crotch and a cutter and a twine finger operated by a drive mechanism to form two knots consecutively, the first to tie together two runs of twine passed around a completed bale and the second to tie together two runs of twine drawn from respective supply rolls for the commencement of the next bale. The twine holder serves to grip the two runs of twine drawn from the supply rolls throughout the formation of the two knots. The bill hook serves to knot the runs of twine gripped by the holder. The cutter serves to sever the runs of twine between the holder and the bill hook. The crotch pushes the twine runs off the bill hook during the completion of each knot. The twine finger is pivotably mounted on the opposite side of the bill hook from the twine holder to bring the sections of the runs of twine to be knotted within the reach of the bill hook.

  • Patent number: 7854195
Abstract: A baler has a bale chamber and a needle movable through the bale chamber to pass a strand of twine from one side of the bale chamber to a knotter located on the opposite side, the twine being engaged by a tip of the needle. In the invention, pressurized air is directed at the needle tip. The supply of pressurized air may be discontinuous and timed to coincide only with certain phases of the needle operating cycle. The air stream avoids crop material being caught up in the knots formed by the knotter.

  • Patent number: 7585003
Abstract: In a tag fastener for fastening a tag by looping and knotting a thread, an apparatus for adjusting the length of a thread loop is provided at the forefront portion of the body (1) having a front cover plate (2) supporting a needle (1n) and capable of being opened and closed, with a thread hanging bar (3) being translatable between an upper step and a lower step position through a displacement lever (3v). As the position of the thread hanging bar (3) can be variably adjusted between upper and lower step positions, the length of the loop for attaching a tag can be adjusted as desired. Further, as the front cover plate (2) can be opened, it is easy to clean the inside of the front cover plate and the tag fastener can be used more conveniently.

  • Patent number: 7458620
Abstract: A clamp arrangement for securing a needle to a needle support member includes an interface arrangement between a first clamp segment, defining an inner end of a baler needle, and a surface of a needle support member, on which a second clamp segment is located on a side of the support member opposite to that engaged by the first clamp segment. The interface arrangement is such as to permit the needle to be rocked sideways so as to adjust an outer twine delivery end of the needle from side-to-side as necessary to bring the twine delivery end in correct alignment with a knotter mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6578883
Abstract: A machine for tying knots in a linear substrate that is woven simultaneously on the machine or prewoven and fed through the machine. A cutter system uses a knife and a looper independently operated by a series of clamp blocks and connecting links. A yarn needle carries the yarn to the looper for cross weaving. A roller assembly maintains the cut yarn in a taut position. An adjustable picker assembly having cams gathers a number of yarn strands together. A knot tying needle assembly has one end affixed to the machine with an open eyed movable needle for grasping the gathered strands. An adjustable knot tightener interacts with the movable needle to tighten the knot with the aid of an oscillating gear. A rake assembly moves the tied knots to the completion end of the machine.
