The locking member also cooperates with a U-shaped plate to limit the movement of the door in a partially opened position. The locking member is attached to the door. The hinge has an inner sleeve that is attached to a hinge pin and a rotatable outer sleeve which has a slot and a spring loaded button. The spring loaded button can cooperate with a notch in the inner sleeve to lock the position of the outer sleeve. When the door is closed, the locking member rotates the outer sleeve until the button is captured by the notch of the inner sleeve. The slot of the outer sleeve captures the locking member and prevents the door from being opened until the button is released from the inner sleeve notch.

At least the recess on the guide rail has a notch formed at one end to positively hold the peg. Preferably, the gate and/or guide rail are spring biased so that the peg will move into the recesses when they are aligned. When the recesses are not aligned, the side of the slot on the gate covers the recess on the guide rail, and vice-versa, preventing the peg from moving into the recesses.

    Abstract: A pivoting arm door lock mechanism is disclosed which allows the user to lock the door in a fully closed position or a partially opened position merely by positioning a single arm. The mechanism also permits the user to open the door to an intermediate position without locking it in that position. The mechanism consists of a slidable T-bolt attached to the door which slides along a generally horizontal axis. A slotted arm, being pivotable in a generally vertical plane, is attached to the door jamb such that the head of the T-bolt engages the slot in the pivoting arm. In order for the T-bolt head to pass through the pivoting arm, the arm must be in a vertical orientation. When in this position, the door is locked in a fully closed position since the longitudinal axis of the T-bolt passes through the pivoting axis of the arm. In order to open the door to either a first or second partially opened positions, the arm is rotated to a horizontal position which allows the T-bolt to slide along its slot.

The apparatus includes a keeper which is adapted to be mounted on a door jamb along one side of the doorway opening. The keeper has a pair of plates one of which is securely fastened to the door jamb and is also pivotally connected to the other plate. The plates are releasably engaged with each other in closed condition. Only when disengaged, the pivotally mounted plate may swing laterally away from the doorway to open position. A bar structure extending across the doorway is pivotally connected to the door jamb on the opposite side of the opening from the keeper, as by being mounted on the same hinge which connects the door to the jamb, so as to swing with the door. The end of the bar opposite to the keeper includes a latch having a bolt which is movable into and out of a slot in the pivotally mounted plate of the keeper.

    Abstract: A door stop and hold open for use in refrigerated display cabinets includes a selectively positionable arrestor for limiting the swing of the door and for detenting the door in its widest open position. Detenting action is provided by a clip having two leaf springs between which a pin is forced as the opening door approaches its limiting position, and by which the pin is yieldably retained. The leaf springs are shaped to provide rigidity except in the direction of spreading and to provide a large surface area for contacting the pin, thereby reducing wear.

    Abstract: A door check having a slidable arm mounted on a multi-stepped shoulder fastener has means for pivotally mounting the arm on the door of a refrigerator display case or like apparatus at one end thereof and has an elongated slot extending from the mid portion of the arm to an opposite end thereof which receives the shoulder fastener. A restriction is provided in the slot near the outer end thereof. The fastener is mounted on the display case and engages the outer end of the slot when the door of the display case is swung to the full open position. The hold the door open the arm can be moved upwardly so that the restriction in the slot bears against an enlarged shoulder of the multi-stepped fastener to retain the door in the open position. Pressure on the door toward the closed position spreads the restriction in the slot apart to drop the arm and permit travel of the door to the closed position without damage to the door stop.
