A locking/releasing device, which cooperates with the driving device, is provided at the other end of the driving device. The structure of this invention is unique. It allows the door to be conveniently opened and will not cause any possible harm to the users.

    Abstract: A latch-spring assembly has a handle with prongs extending from a finger-grip portion. One prong has a circumferential groove. A leaf spring has an anchor portion for attachment to a subassembly wall and a spring portion flexibly coupled to the anchor portion. The spring portion has a latching tab extending from one side and cylindrical portions. The prongs pass through openings in the subassembly wall to enter the cylindrical portions. One cylindrical portion has a compressible region, which is compressed within the groove of the one prong to secure the handle to the leaf spring. The latching tab extends through an opening in the sidewall when the leaf spring is attached to a subassembly sidewall. When the subassembly enters an enclosure, the latching tab engages a latch-receiving mechanism in the enclosure. Deflecting the handle laterally disengages the latching tab from the latch-receiving mechanism, thus releasing the subassembly from the enclosure.

    Abstract: A knob catch for securing a knob or lever to the driving spindle of a door lock. The knob catch is constructed of a base with a centered odd shaped hole. The hole is made in such a way that the knob or lever cannot be removed when the locking device is in the locked position using a key operated cylinder with a flat locking bar. A tongue portion of the knob catch rises above the base and fits into the knob or lever and keeps the knob or lever from being removed. In the front side of this tongue is an angular surface which permits the knob or lever to be slid over the top of the knob catch until the knob catch tongue and an aperture in the knob or lever align allowing the tongue to be spring biased into the aperture to secure the knob or lever. There are two springs attached to the knob catch to bias the tongue into engagement with the knob or lever aperture.

The keypad includes indicia that inform the user of the extended or retracted condition of the bolt. A battery pack is used to energize circuitry, and the circuitry provides a control signal that activates a solenoid to extend or retract a bolt blocking device, which in turn prevents or enables movement of the bolt. A visual indicator warns of a low voltage or power condition in the battery pack. Electrical contacts are provided in the face plate of the handle to connect the circuitry to an external power source in case the battery pack fails.

When the microcontroller determines that a correct combination has been entered, it activates a motor to move a motor cam to act directly on a locking lever so that the locking lever can engage a drive cam integrally linked with the inner dial, to allow the inner dial to withdraw the lock's bolt.

An inside rose and handle assembly is provided, the rose having inward tabs. A nut is threaded onto the sleeve and has spaced openings about its end remote from the housing, the openings each leading to a series of steps in clockwise direction progressively closer to the housing. Each step has a tread and a riser so that when the handle is brought over the spindle and the rose is maneuvered so that the tabs fit into the openings and the rose is turned in a clockwise direction, the tabs will engage the closest riser to the housing that the thickness of the door will permit. Further clockwise turning of the rose will turn the nut and move the nut closer to the housing so that the treads engage the tabs and draw the rose/handle assembly inward to firmly and quickly install the lockset on the door.

    Abstract: A door latch lever handle fitting includes a retaining member which is pushed onto a shank portion of a lever handle. The retaining member has tongues which engage flats of the shank portion and tongues which engage in grooves formed in the surface of the shank portion to thereby grip the shank portion. In other embodiments where there are no grooves, different retaining members have modified gripping tongue arrangements. The retaining member is stressed to give axial thrust to take up any residual play in the assembly. Ears of the retainer member are engageable with an abutment lug on the rear face of a base plate of the assembly so that the door handle may be turned through a predetermined angle.

    Abstract: A lock arrangement to be secured in a door panel is formed of as few parts as possible and includes a pair of knobs to be secured to the opposite sides of the door panel and an elongated latch bolt. The latch bolt is operated by an actuating pin eccentrically arranged within and extending between the knobs. The actuating pin interconnects the knobs so that they can be turned together. The knobs have the same outside configuration and the knob surfaces which face one another each have a recessed edge which fits into a bore formed in the door panel extending between the knobs. The actuating pin operating the latch bolt is located in the locking position of the bolt on an extension of the elongated direction of the bolt. A spring biases the bolt into the locking position. A retaining pin extends between and is centered relative to the knobs and secures the knobs to the door panel.

    Abstract: A tool-loadable biasing spring for a knob retainer plate securing a doorknob on its knob sleeve. The plate is slidable transversely in the sleeve and has a central opening. The biasing spring has a bight with a hook for engagement behind the linear forward border of the opening and with an axial offset for transmitting thrust to such border. Spring legs extend unrestrained across the face of the plate into camming relation with forwardly diverging inner faces of the sleeve, so as to generate forward bias on the spring. The legs have axial offsets with out-turned fingers to lock behind the plate. For loading, the spring is held in resiliently contracted condition across the end of a holder tool, and the tool is inserted into the end of the sleeve until both the bight offset and leg offsets and fingers pass simultaneously through the retainer plate opening. The spring is then released for self-movement into interlocked relation with the plate.

The pin (61) with a reduced diameter portion (62) is inserted in the aperture (42) so that the intermediate portions (55,57) of the U-shaped spring (52) will seat in the reduced diametered portion (62) of the pin (61) to lock the blade (14) to the arm. The U-shaped spring (52) can be flexed to release the pin (61) from the blade (14).
