Patent number: 7331619Abstract: A latch-spring assembly has a handle with prongs extending from a finger-grip portion. One prong has a circumferential groove. A leaf spring has an anchor portion for attachment to a subassembly wall and a spring portion flexibly coupled to the anchor portion. The spring portion has a latching tab extending from one side and cylindrical portions. The prongs pass through openings in the subassembly wall to enter the cylindrical portions. One cylindrical portion has a compressible region, which is compressed within the groove of the one prong to secure the handle to the leaf spring. The latching tab extends through an opening in the sidewall when the leaf spring is attached to a subassembly sidewall. Patent number: 6805388Abstract: The door handle assembly includes a housing and a lever handle pivotally connected to the front side of the housing by a pin. A pivot plate is pivotally connected to the back side of the housing, which includes a curved channel in which is mounted a compression spring. The pivot plate covers the channel so as to retain or close the spring in the channel. The pivot plate includes an arm which is linked to the door latch. Upon actuation of the handle, the pivot plate is pivoted by a leg of the handle extending through the housing. The pivotal movement of the pivot plate compresses the spring between one end of the channel and an arm on the pivot plate. The linkage between the pivot plate and the door latch releases the latch when the pivot plate is rotated by actuation of the handle. Upon release of the handle, the compression spring biases the pivot plate to its normal at-rest position. A resilient, integrally formed pin retention member extends from the housing for retaining the door handle pin in position.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2002Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Tri/Mark CorporationInventor: Christopher M. Patent number: 5647235Abstract: A user of a self-powered electronic combination lock rotates an outer dial to cause generators to generate energy for storage in a capacitor bank. The user then rotates an inner dial to cause a microcontroller to sequentially display a combination of numbers, and presses the inner dial to select a displayed number. The microcontroller determines direction and extent of motion of the inner dial by receiving signals derived from Wiegand sensors placed in proximity to a magnetized disc which rotates integrally with the inner dial, and controls the display of numerals on an LCD display accordingly. When the microcontroller determines that a correct combination has been entered, it activates a motor to move a motor cam to act directly on a locking lever so that the locking lever can engage a drive cam integrally linked with the inner dial, to allow the inner dial to withdraw the lock's bolt.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1995Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Sargent & Greenleaf, Inc.Inventors: Michael R. Patent number: 5575516Abstract: A fastening mechanism for a handle on a cooking utensil should also have a releasable design for certain uses, for example, when the cooking utensil is heated up in a closed oven. A release and subsequent reconnection of a handle thereby should be done quickly and without effort, and the fastening mechanism for the handle moreover should be easy to manufacture. The fastening mechanism uses for this purpose an operating piece, which can be adjusted transversely with respect to the longitudinal extent of a handle piece in such a fastening mechanism. During the handling of which operating piece, a locking of the handle piece on a holding piece is released, which handle piece is covered by the handle piece and is connected to the cooking utensil. A renewed slipping over of the handle piece occurs against a light resiliency resulting from a transfer slope on a spring piece which also is used for the locking.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1995Date of Patent: November 19, 1996Assignee: Heinrich Baumgarten KG Spezialfabrik fuer BeschlagteileInventor: Gerd-Diethard Baumgarten

Patent number: 4428570Abstract: A tool-loadable biasing spring for a knob retainer plate securing a doorknob on its knob sleeve. The plate is slidable transversely in the sleeve and has a central opening. The biasing spring has a bight with a hook for engagement behind the linear forward border of the opening and with an axial offset for transmitting thrust to such border. Spring legs extend unrestrained across the face of the plate into camming relation with forwardly diverging inner faces of the sleeve, so as to generate forward bias on the spring. The legs have axial offsets with out-turned fingers to lock behind the plate. For loading, the spring is held in resiliently contracted condition across the end of a holder tool, and the tool is inserted into the end of the sleeve until both the bight offset and leg offsets and fingers pass simultaneously through the retainer plate opening. The spring is then released for self-movement into interlocked relation with the plate.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1981Date of Patent: January 31, 1984Assignee: Best Lock CorporationInventors: William R. Patent number: 4311164Abstract: A simple but effective valve assembly is disclosed wherein a valve stem retaining spring clip is mounted within a valve stem removal aperture in the valve handle to prevent inadvertent disassembly of the valve handle from the valve stem. The valve assembly of the present invention includes a valve body having a fluid entrance and a fluid exit; a valve plug longitudinally movable within the valve body and disposed, in a valve closed position, against a valve seat to prevent fluid from entering said valve body; a valve stem disposed longitudinally through the valve body connecting the valve plug to a valve handle assembly; a valve body neck portion for securing the valve handle assembly to the valve body and a valve handle assembly including a valve stem retaining notch and an adjoining valve stem receiving aperture larger than the diameter of a handle connecting portion of the valve stem.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1980Date of Patent: January 19, 1982Assignee: Superior Stainless, Inc.Inventor: Elmer S. Patent number: 4240177Abstract: A windshield wiper blade connector (20) is provided for connecting a plastic windshield wiper blade (14) to the side pin (61) of a side pin wiper arm. The connector includes a U-shaped spring (52) seated in a cavity (32) in the bridge of a wiper blade (14). Intermediate portions of the sides of the U-shaped spring (52) intersect in a chordal fashion the transverse pin-receiving aperture (42) in the yoke (16) of the blade. The pin (61) with a reduced diameter portion (62) is inserted in the aperture (42) so that the intermediate portions (55,57) of the U-shaped spring (52) will seat in the reduced diametered portion (62) of the pin (61) to lock the blade (14) to the arm. The U-shaped spring (52) can be flexed to release the pin (61) from the blade (14).Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1979Date of Patent: December 23, 1980Assignee: The Anderson Company of IndianaInventors: William H. Patent number: 4189248Abstract: A snap-on handle structure for attachment to an operating shaft having detent notches and cam members including a handle with an internal recess, and a generally U-shaped spring member in the handle recess with a pair of spaced-apart arms with free ends extending toward an open end of the recess. Each of the arms has a generally V-shaped hook portion intermediate the central base of the spring member and the free ends of said legs with a pair of inclined legs to coact with the cam members on placement of the handle on the operating shaft and coaction with the detent notches for retention of the handle on the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1977Date of Patent: February 19, 1980Assignee: Truth IncorporatedInventor: George R.
