  • Patent number: 11746562
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a lock assembly comprising an inner housing positionable on one side of a movable structure such as a door and an outer housing positionable on an opposing side of the structure. A pocket connection region having an aperture formed through a wall of the inner housing is configured to receive a head of a fastener therethrough. After the fastener extends through the aperture, a clamp device may be moved from an open position to a closed position so as to releasably lock the fastener to the pocket connection region of the inner housing. In another form, a retainer is configured to hold the fastener with respect to the inner housing during installation of the lock assembly. In this manner an inner housing may be quickly connected to an outer housing when installing a lock assembly to the structure.

Abstract: A rose assembly for a door lock and a method of removably securing the rose assembly to a lock chassis. The rose assembly is secured to the lock chassis through the use of an intermediate spring steel attaching plate, which provides both a secure attachment to the lock and orientation of the rose assembly to the lock housing. A single spring plate with integrated retention clip features provides a removably attachable interface between the rose and the lock chassis. The spring plate includes a hook feature to provide positive retention of the rose that is independent of the spring clip features. Additionally, the spring clips are located to minimize the possibility that one clip deflects substantially more than another. The installation process includes inserting the hook feature into a slot in the chassis housing, and then snapping the clip features over the housing to seat and retain the rose.

Abstract: A handle set includes a handle assembly having an operator, a rose insert, and a shank having a bore. The rose insert has a central opening and a post. The shank is affixed to the operator and rotatably received in the central opening. A rotational stop is coupled to the rose insert. A spindle guide is slidably received in the bore and is slidable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A kick-off plate having a retention slot is coupled to the spindle guide. A centralizing cup having a single multi-function tang and a lock retention feature is mounted to the shank. The multi-function tang is configured for rotation along a rotational path, the rotation being limited by the rotational stop. The lock retention feature is positioned to engage the retention slot when the spindle guide is in the locked position to thereby retain it in the locked position.

Abstract: The invention is an anti-rotational lock chassis for a retractable latch. The lock chassis includes a first hub having at least one flat side and a second hub with a thread exterior. An internally threaded plate receives the externally threaded hub. The flat-sided plate receives the flat-sided hub. Each plate is positioned between a spring cage assembly and the chassis. The spring cage assembly includes a drive spindle that rotates to extend and retract the latch to secure access through a door. A connecting element interconnects the spring case assemblies. Cutouts in each plate engage the connecting elements, thereby constraining the plates and chassis from rotating inside the door.

Abstract: A lock includes a main body having an outside seat and an inside seat around which an inside rose liner is mounted. A peripheral wall delimiting a central hole of the inside rose liner includes at least one pair of notches. A reinforcing ring is mounted round the inside seat and inside the inside rose liner. The reinforcing ring includes two tabs each having a distal end received in a respective groove of the inside seat, preventing relative rotation between the reinforcing ring and the main body. Two positioning posts extend from an outside rose liner mounted around the outside seat. Two fasteners extend through the reinforcing ring and the inside rose liner into screw holes of the positioning posts, thereby securing the reinforcing ring, the inside rose liner, and the outside rose liner together. The torque-resisting capacity is thus improved.
