Patent number: 5816309Abstract: A door edge guard for mounting to the leading edges of a pair of bifold doors has a guard body. The guard body has a rear wall, a front wall spaced apart from the rear wall and resiliently deformable panels extending between the front and rear walls. The front wall, rear wall and side panels define a crush zone therebetween. Weather stripping extends forwardly from the front wall to provide a weather barrier.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1996Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventor: Bruce D. Patent number: 5558741Abstract: A method of making a weatherstripping product for attachment on an automotive vehicle or for other weatherstripping applications, said method comprising the steps of: forming a support member of a predetermined configuration, extruding an elastomeric weatherstrip, treating a surface of the elastomeric weatherstrip with an abundance of ultraviolet radiation from a UV source to thereby provide a UV treated surface on the weatherstrip, applying a low friction surface coating to the UV treated surface on the weatherstrip to provide a coated elastomeric weatherstrip, mounting the coated elastomeric weatherstrip on said support member, to thereby provide a weatherstripping product with markedly improved anti-squeak and ice release characteristics; and the weatherstripping product prepared from this material.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Acheson Industries, Inc.Inventors: Bruce D. Patent number: 5304409Abstract: A weather strip fixed in place by pressure against an adhesive tape attachment where the adhesive ability of the tape is increased, especially at points of high stress. The fixing portion of the weather strip includes hardened portions. The hardened portions are harder than the remaining body of the fixing portion material and are positioned so as to extend along the edge of the adhesive tape or where needed to properly assist in the transfer of sealing pressure from the fixing portion onto the adhesive tape. When the fixing portion is pressed in place, the pressure is more effectively transmitted to the desired area of the adhesive tape so that the fixing portion is more firmly adhered.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1992Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Assignee: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masahiro Nozaki

Patent number: 5154952Abstract: A weather strip is provided which has a base portion having a bottom surface which is to be bonded to a portion of a motor vehicle with double-sided adhesive tape. A seal portion is formed integrally with the base portion and is adapted to flexibly contact a facing member or surface of the motor vehicle. In order to conceal at least a side edge of the double-sided adhesive tape, a lip-shaped projection is provided which projects from a side edge of the base portion along a side edge of the double-sided adhesive tape. The lip-shaped projection projects by a height greater than the thickness of the double-sided adhesive tape and as an inwardly curved top or distal end.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1990Date of Patent: October 13, 1992Assignee: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masahiro Nozaki

Patent number: 4444422Abstract: A sash lock for sliding windows as for example in vehicles such as buses is provided. The lock has a minimum of moving parts (two), and great strength. The lock comprises a lock body having a projecting latch plate which is adapted to engage a slot in a track adjacent a sliding window. The latch plate has an upper unitary lip which is engaged by downwardly projecting members on the latch handle, and there is an associated spring normally urging the latch plate toward the slotted track. Pivotal movement of the handle, in either direction, causes the latch plate to be released from the slotted track so that the latch and its associated window may readily be moved along the track.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1982Date of Patent: April 24, 1984Assignee: Storm-Tite Industries, Ltd.Inventors: James R.
