  • Patent number: 8678339
Abstract: A bicycle seat support that resiliently supports a bicycle seat and comprises an upper engagement member adapted to support a bicycle seat, a lower engagement member adapted to engage a bicycle frame, and a compliant support assembly coupling the upper engagement member to the lower engagement member. The compliant support assembly includes a first cantilevered beam cantilevered to the lower engagement member, and a second cantilevered beam cantilevered to the first cantilevered beam. The first and second cantilevered beams define a gap, and a resilient member is positioned in the gap. Preferably, the cantilevered beams include convex surfaces, and the resilient member includes concave surfaces shaped to receive the convex surfaces. The resilient member can include a body portion and a strut (e.g., two struts). The resilient member can also include a side surface and a recess in the side surface (e.g., extending all the way through the resilient member).

  • Patent number: 7549698
Abstract: An integrated human body support structure, particularly a saddle or seat for a vehicle. The structure comprises an upper element (4) having longitudinal end portions (8, 8?) and a lower element (5) having longitudinal end portions (9, 9?). The upper element (4) faces and is transversely spaced from said lower element (5). Furthermore, these elements are monolithically and elastically joined at one of their longitudinal ends (6) to define a gap (7) therebetween whereby the opposite free ends (8, 9) may adjust the gap (7) as the load applied to the structure changes. Thanks to this configuration the structure of the invention substantially helps to take up of the stresses from the vehicle on which the structure is mounted.

  • Patent number: 6343836
Abstract: A bicycle saddle comprises a main body, two deflection members, a pliable support, and a bracing frame. The main body has a front portion and a rear portion wider than the front portion. The deflection members are fastened pivotally at the top end thereof with two opposite sides of the underside of the rear portion of the main body such that the axial direction of the pivot is corresponding to the front-rear direction of the main body, and that the bottom end of each deflection member swivels. The pliable support is fastened pivotally at both ends thereof with the bottom ends of the deflection members such that the top of the pliable support and the underside of the main body form therebetween a cushioning space. When the pliable support is exerted on by an external force, the pliable support is deformed.

  • Patent number: 5823618
Abstract: A pedestal seat having an adjustable base for supporting a first resilient suspension system for a pair of separate and spaced-apart cushioned body halves adapted for independent articulation with respect to each other is disclosed. A second resilient suspension system is disposed in each of the of the respective body halves adapted to bear against skeleton contact points of the user's torso. The first suspension system employs a pair of leaf springs having opposite ends attached to each of the respective body halves with a coil spring interconnecting one end of each leaf spring with a selected end of each body half. The adjustable base releasably secures the midsection of each leaf spring to a common pedestal or stanchion.

  • Patent number: 5718178
Abstract: A combination storage table and planter has a tubular body extending upwardly from a base. Received within the tubular body is an open ended spool. A reversible top is adapted to be received upon the tubular member such that in one orientation a table having a substantially flat planar surface is defined, and in another orientation the top has a recess or cavity for receiving soil and plants. The storage compartments are separated for dry and wet storage. Accordingly, a storage unit is provided which may also alternatively function as either a table or a plantar.

  • Patent number: 5551753
Abstract: An active dynamic seat has a base, an intermediate piece linked to the base and a seat part linked to the intermediate piece. The seat part can tilt in all lateral directions and is linked in an essentially fixed manner in the vertical direction to the intermediate piece. One or more restoring devices act on the seat part. The intermediate piece is fixed at its lower end to the base and is resilient in the vertical direction. In another embodiment of the invention, the seat part is linked to the intermediate piece by several spring strips distributed around the periphery of the seat part and of the intermediate piece.

  • Patent number: 5267630
Abstract: A front body structure of a vehicle, in which a power-plant is installed, includes a reinforcement secured to a mounting portion of a wheel housing located where an engine mounting bracket is attached. The front body structure also includes another reinforcement, for connecting the reinforcement to a suspension tower, which connects the reinforcement to the wheel housing. The other reinforcement is smaller in plate thickness than the reinforcement so as to absorb impact force applied to the front body during a front end collision. A front frame reinforcement is secured to a front side frame so as to reinforce a portion of the front side frame at a location in which a cut-away portion is formed so as to compensate for a decrease in structural strength of the front side frame. A connecting member connects the power-plant to a rigid structural member so as to suppress a movement of the power-plant during a front end collision.

  • Patent number: 4818043
Abstract: The product display device of the present invention comprises a cabinet frame having a front opening therein. Two or more doors are positioned in covering relation over the front opening so as to form an enclosed compartment within the cabinet frame. Each of the doors includes an upper edge, a lower edge, a latching edge, a hinge edge, a front face and a rear face. The doors are arranged in side-by-side relationship with one another with the hinge edge of one door being adjacent the latching edge of the other door. The hinge edges of the doors are hinged at their upper and lower ends to the cabinet frame. A stop member is attached to the hinge edge of the first door and includes a latch surface extending laterally from the hinge edge and being in facing relationship to the rear face of the latching edge of the other door. A seal is attached to the rear face of the second door and sealingly engages the latch surface of the stop member of the first door to form a seal therebetween.
