  • Patent number: 10501022
Abstract: A ladder latching device for a tilting ladder rack includes an inner extrusion for clamping to the load supporting member of the ladder rack. An outer extrusion is slidably mounted on the inner extrusion. The outer extrusion carries a treadle and ladder rung engaging stop. Between the two extrusions are a toothed rack and a gas spring. The outer extrusion carries a pivotable, spring-biased lever having a tooth for selectively engaging the toothed rack for releasably locking the stop at a desired location relative to a rung of a ladder being unloaded as the outer extrusion is made to slide by applying foot pressure on the treadle. Thus, a ladder may be lowered along the load supporting member until the ladder's feet engage the ground as the stop disengages from its place on a ladder rung.

  • Patent number: 10486608
Abstract: A ladder rack assembly for a work vehicle has a stationary bed for attachment to the roof thereof. A pair of parallel, spaced apart rails has guides thereon that extend from the rails' first ends toward, but short their second ends. Rollers on side edges of a load support member ride on the bed rails. When the rollers are constrained by the guides, only translation of the load support member takes place. Upon exit of the rollers from the rear ends of the guides, both translation and rotation of the load support member can occur. A control arm is pivotally joined at one end to the stationary bed. Its free end has cam actuated latch pin assemblies attached to it that co-act with cams on the stationary bed during rearward displacement of the load support member to latch the load support member to the control arm whereby further rearward movement of the load support member causes it to tilt to a somewhat vertical position.

Apparatus is described for either raising from or lowering to the ground a trailer bed in a single step while maintaining a substantially horizontal attitude relative thereto, or for tilting the trailer bed which is normally positioned parallel to the ground when the trailer is in its traveling mode for the purpose of loading or unloading the bed without substantial change in the orientation of the trailer "U"-frame in which the bed is located. • Patent number: 4384816
Abstract: In a dump truck, the most efficient way of raising the container body is to apply a lifting force to the end of the body remote from the pivot point. In some applications it is difficult to do so because of height restrictions and it is particularly difficult to do so in a telescoping container body in which the end of the container body which is remote from the pivot point moves in relation to the pivot point. The present invention overcomes this difficulty by mounting the extensible ram in a position remote from its upright position and providing a mechanism for pivoting it to its required upright position prior to its operation as a hoist. In a telescopic container body, the extensible ram is normally stored in freeboard space disposed below the front section of the container body and is raised into an upright position at the front end of the telescoped body in response to movement of the front section from its extended position to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4084851
Abstract: A self-dumping self-retracting cargo bin adapted for installation in a conventional pickup truck without need for tools or alteration of the truck. The bin has front and rear roller means for supporting the bin on a loading dock or the like when not in a truck. When mounted in a truck, the rear end of the bin is supported on fulcrum rollers carried by a latching sub-assembly extending crosswise of the truck body with latch means positively embracing the truck's rear stake sockets. The bin is self-dumping when its rear doors are unlocked and it is released from its travel mode merely by starting the truck forward abruptly. Energy stored in heavy duty retraction springs during the dumping cycle is effective to restore the bin toward its travel mode.

  • Patent number: 3944284
Abstract: There is disclosed a container having an aperture therein with a linear edge, which aperture is normally closed by the planar surface of the base member. The container is pivotally attached to the base member by connecting arms such that when the container is moved with respect to the base member, the container is constrained by the connecting rods and tilts and slides on the linear edge across the planar surface of the base member to open the aperture of the container and to dispense the contents therefrom.
