  • Patent number: 6755479
Abstract: A trailer for attachment to a hitch of a tow vehicle, the trailer comprising a bed, or some other type of load carrying portion, connected for pivotal movement with respect to the draw bar of the trailer. The bed is movable between a generally horizontal, hauling position and a tilted, dumping position. • Patent number: 6302380
Abstract: A portable extraction tool facilitates soil stabilization applications that utilize compaction grouting. Compaction grouting involves installing grout injection casing into the ground in fixed-length sections to depths limited by soil compaction or bedrock. The casing is then removed in stages. Between stages, grout is pumped through the casing and into the soil at high pressure. The extraction tool provides the power, gripping strength, stability and operator control required to pull casings from the ground at a desired rate. Pulling power is provided by a pair of hydraulic cylinders. Gripping strength is provided by a progressive chuck mechanism that secures injection casings on upward movements of the cylinders and releases casings on downward movements, without damaging the reusable casings. Stability and strength are provided by a heavy, large-footprint base plate.

The device is balanced so that it can be easily propelled by pushing downward and forward on the handle. It is especially useful as a dumping hand cart for granular loads, since the forward edge of the receptacle is spaced from the ground at least at the completion of the dumping operation. A gravity-operated latch keeps the frame parts together to allow the load carrier to be pulled up steps, up a slope, or up over a curb without having the wheels separate from the receptacle, but automatically releases, allowing the user to dump a load of material from the receptacle by pushing forward on the handle.

  • Patent number: 4699393
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-purpose trailer (24) with a universal mounting hitch (26) for use with a garden tractor (22). The multi-purpose trailer (24) includes two U-shaped front ends (36) having horizontally aligned apertures (40) therein to enable two point pivotal attachment to the garden tractor (22). The trailer (24) is supported above the surface of the ground by a single, pivotal wheel (46) and further includes a trailer box (30) which is pivotal about a substantially horizontal axis proximate the back end of the trailer. The universal mounting hitch (26) includes a U-shaped bracket (151) including two spaced apart vertically extending legs (152) including a plurality of apertures (164) therein. The vertically extending legs (152) are interconnected by a horizontally extending member (154) including a plurality of apertures (158). The apertures (158) enable attachment of the U-shaped bracket (151) to the draw bar of the garden tractor (22).

  • Patent number: 4659147
Abstract: A dump trailer includes a frame attached below a trailer bed and having a first pair of parallel outer rails which are inclined upwardly from front to rear and a pair of center rails which are inclined downwardly from front to rear. A towing tongue extends along the center line of the frame and includes a forked end having a first pair of rollers engaging the first pair of rails and a second pair of rollers which engage the center rails. Pairs of wheels are disposed on each side of the bed and are mounted on the ends of leading and trailing arms pivotally mounted on the frame. A strut is adapted to be coupled to the arms at points above or below the wheel spindles for raising and lowering the bed relative to the wheels. The trailer is dumped by using a prime mover to force the tongue rearwardly thereby moving the rollers backwardly along their respective rails to pivot the frame and bed about the axis of the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 4639043
Abstract: A trailer designed to be towed behind a vehicle with a frame that is slidably attached to the trailer body. Inclined ramps are formed on the members of the frame such that when the frame slides rearward relative to the trailer, rollers on the underside of the trailer body cause the trailer to rotate about the axle. The slidable connection between the trailer and the draw bar yoke is slightly negatively inclined to insure that the mechanism will move freely and to enable the trailer to be returned to the horizontal position by merely applying a forward force on the frame. The invention also employs means to secure the trailer body to the frame when the trailer is in its normal horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 4511181
Abstract: A utility trailer for vehicles having a tilt bed and vertical storing capability. The trailer has a tongue pivotally connected to the trailer to provide for three positions, namely, a hitch towing position, a tilted bed position and vertically storing position wherein the trailer is vertically positioned on end and the tongue is pivoted through an oblique angle to form a rigid tripod support. Automatic latch means are provided for locking the hitch and vertical storing positions. Removable stakes are provided for the bed with means for securing an internal liner and external cover. The stakes may be removed and stored in the vertical storing position between the wheel axle and the trailer bed.

  • Patent number: 4494797
Abstract: A trailer of the type for use in supporting machines such as snowmobiles, lawn and garden tractors and the like. The trailer includes a frame supported for pivotal movement about the axis of the trailer axle such that the rearward end of the trailer can move toward the ground such that the bed of the trailer is inclined to thereby facilitate loading of a machine onto the trailer. The trailer also includes a draw bar having a forward end including a hitch device adapted to be connected to a vehicle, and the rearward end of the draw bar is pivotably connected to the trailer frame and bed forwardly of the vehicle axle. A lever assembly is also provided for mechanically lifting the forward end of the trailer bed with respect to the draw bar so as to cause the rearward end of the trailer to move downwardly toward the ground to a loading position.

Abstract: A trailer comprises a container supported between a pair of scissors lifts having first and second arms movable about a pivot by a ram. The arms support the container by a pair of rollers and a mounting lug. The mounting lug comprises a lug on the container for engagement with a pair of U-shaped slots, a tilt slot and a lift slot. The lug engages the lift slot when the trailer is to be lifted. For tilting the lug engages the tilt slot thereby causing the rollers to disengage the container to permit tilting.

  • Patent number: 4145085
Abstract: A bellcrank lever is pivotally connected at its elbow to a tow vehicle such as a tractor. A generally horizontal arm of the bellcrank lever is pivotally connected to the lower front portion of a trailer bed through a universal joint and a centering mechanism. The after end of the bed is supported by two rear wheels. A hydraulically actuated mechanism connected between the vehicle and an upwardly extending arm of the bellcrank lever pivots the bellcrank lever in a vertical plane thereby selectively raising or lowering the front of the bed. The universal joint allows towing and dumping at a considerable angle of lateral tilt of the bed relative to the vehicle and the centering mechanism maintains the trailer in fore and aft alignment.

  • Patent number: 3936070
Abstract: A cart-like vehicle has a symmetric concave body portion which is pivoted on a frame on a tilt axis above the axis of the wheels so that the cart may be tilted in one longitudinal direction to serve as a personnel conveyance, or may be loaded with its carrying compartment upright and unloaded by merely tilting the body in a second longitudinal direction to a dumping position. The body portion is substantially wedge-shaped, with its tilt axis closer to the top than to the bottom, so the body may be readily pivoted in either longitudinal direction. Both of said axes lie substantially in the transverse, vertical mid-plane of the body when said body is upright. Means are provided to support a seat for using the cart as a passenger vehicle when tilted in one direction, and the cart also includes means for supporting a cover or shelves when the cart is used to convey liquids or as a free-standing serving cart.
