  • Patent number: 8033024
Abstract: A pipe cutter according to the invention has an inner head part which, in the working position, rotates about a pipe which is clamped in the inner head part and is to be processed. Integrated in the inner head part are a spring-mounted cutting wheel head (8) having a cutting wheel (7) for cutting the pipe and a plurality of support rollers (9) in spring-mounted receptacles (10). The arrangement and formation of cutting wheel (7) and support rollers (9) is such that the clamped pipe is at right angles to the cutting wheel (7), and a right-angled cut is thus achieved. Moreover, a defined feed cutting force can be set by the spring mounting of cutting wheel head (8) and support roller receptacles. During cutting, the pressure on the pipe decreases with increasing cutting depth, and the pipe can thus be cut cleanly and without burrs.

  • Patent number: 6041806
Abstract: A method for inserting a valve in a line, including polyethylene, PVC, plastic, and copper line, pipe, and tubing, without, for example, having to first shut down a line containing fluid under pressure, includes the step of providing first and second ball valve subassemblies that are adapted to be assembled over the line to form a ball valve assembly having a ball component within a housing component. The ball defines a bore, includes cutting edges, and is adapted to be rotated ninety degrees within the housing about an axis of ball rotation perpendicular to the central axis of the bore. The method proceeds by assembling the first and second ball valve subassemblies over the line, and rotating the ball relative to the line so that the cutting edges on the ball cut out a section of the line. In one embodiment, the ball is rotated ninety degrees within the housing about the axis of ball rotation so that the cutting edges slice through the line.

  • Patent number: 5791364
Abstract: An inflatable gas pipeline stopper is used for stopping gas flow through pipelines to permit repairs to be made to gas pipelines. For plastic gas pipelines, a tapping tee is attached to the plastic gas pipeline and a gas tight apparatus having a valve is attached to the tee. Thereafter, the plastic gas pipeline can be cut with a pipe cutter that is engaged with a hexagonal head and magnetic attachment to be operated from the exterior of the air tight apparatus. The pipe cutter can be removed from the air tight apparatus and the valve of the air tight apparatus closed to prevent gas from escaping from the pipeline. The inflatable gas pipeline stopper with dual air bags can then be inserted into the plastic gas main, through the air tight apparatus and the tee, to stop the flow of gas through the pipeline. After repairs on the pipeline are complete, the inflatable gas pipeline stopper can be removed, the tee can be stopped, and the air tight apparatus can be removed.
