Hems And Cuffs Patents (Class 33/2H)
  • Patent number: 5732489
Abstract: An electric iron device that employs indicia markings along both sides of an iron sole-plate used for accurately gauging and pressing any desired width of hem or cuff of a fabric, thereby eliminating the need for basting the fabric prior to pressing. The spaces between the indicia marks are alternately colored to provide an easy visual guide reference when pressing the hem fold to a desired width.

  • Patent number: 5208988
Abstract: A template structure defined as a template plate, including a front edge, a rear edge, and intermediate first and second slots arranged in a Parallel relationship are defined by the template plate. The first slot includes a first slot rear edge spaced from and parallel a first slot front edge, with the second slot including a second slot rear edge spaced from and parallel the second slot front edge. The first slot is positioned adjacent the rear edge, with the second slot positioned adjacent the front edge of the organization. The front edge permits severing of a pants leg therealong, wherein the front edge is spaced from the second slot rear edge a first length, wherein a respective second length is defined between the second slot rear edge and the first slot rear edge, with a third length defined between the first slot rear edge and the rear edge of the template plate.

  • Patent number: 4750268
Abstract: A tape measure device by which a salesperson can obtain a direct outseam measurement to be used by a tailor in shortening the legs of pants or slacks without having to take an inseam measurement. The device has a rigid tab at one end on which a standing customer being measured places her or his shoe heel. The salesperson then extends the tape to the customers waistband and reads the outseam measurement at that point which can be used to shorten the legs of the garment with the hems of the legs being at the desired predetermined height. By providing another rigid tab on the opposite end and placing additional indicia on the opposite side of the tape the utility of the device can be expanded to making other body measurements.

  • Patent number: 4688510
Abstract: A marker device that clips onto a page, for example, has a spring between proximal ends of a pair of similar congruent leaves so as to spread the proximal ends away from each other and press corresponding opposite distal ends toward each other. One leaf has graduations on it constituting part of a scale or ruler. A third flat straight leaf is connected to one of the pair of spring-biased leaves in such manner that the third leaf can slide and extend or contract relative to the one leaf. The third leaf has graduations that form a continuous measuring scale in conjunction with the graduations on the one leaf when the third leaf is fully extended.

  • Patent number: 4674189
Abstract: Apparatus for use in marking below waist garments such as trousers, slacks, jeans, skirts and dresses has a floor stand with a slide that can be adjusted vertically to mark garments at varying heights in accordance with respective indicia marks on the stand. The device may be used in combination with a T-square-like measuring device of a set length related to the length of the stand for marking trouser lengths. The device may also have a marking and a rule for use in measuring and marking skirts and dresses to specified heights above floor level.

  • Patent number: 4470201
Abstract: A seam marker includes a flat base with an upstanding shoulder so that a piece of cloth may be placed on the base with an edge against the shoulder. An elongated strip extends over the cloth with a straight edge parallel to the shoulder and the strip is secured to the base and is resilient so that it may be pressed down against the cloth to clamp the latter against the base at which time a seam line may be marked along the straight edge of the strip.

  • Patent number: 4418461
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing ready-to-use slats from semifinished slat portions for a slatted Venetian blind having vertically directed slats. In connection with the process, the slat portions are in each case cut at their free lower end to the length corresponding to the installation height, plus an extra length that takes into account a wrap-over portion. The wrap-over portion of a slat is in each case folded over at a bending edge predetermined by the use length. The lower end part of a slat is provided, in the vicinity of the wrap-over portion, with a system of perforations consisting of at least two holes for receiving retaining pins of a retaining means. The retaining pins are passed through the holes and locked.
