With Plural Diverse Disk Or Plural Diverse Cylinder-type Turret Tuners Patents (Class 334/2)
  • Patent number: 4045739
Abstract: The unit incorporates a transceiver, having a channel changing mechanism, and a radio, having a tuner, a tone control and a balance control, together with a volume control in a common housing having a front wall, for conjoint mounting of the unit in an automobile or the like. The front wall is formed with an opening therethrough adjacent one end thereof and with a slot therethrough adjacent the opposite end thereof. Coaxial shafts for the radio tuner, tone control and balance controls extend through the opening adjacent one end of the front wall, and have respective operating knobs secured to their outer ends whereby the radio controls are grouped adjacent the one end of the front wall. A volume control shaft is connected to the volume control, and a channel control shaft is connected to the channel changing mechanism. A tubular outer shaft extends through the slot and is connected by gears to the channel control shaft.

  • Patent number: 3990315
Abstract: A detent type tuning mechanism for a UHF tuner having a continuously variable tuning shaft includes a detented selector shaft, a gear train interconnecting the tuner shaft and the selector shaft, and a memory type fine tuning mechanism including a rotatable turret having mounted thereon a plurality of cams each engageable by a fine tuning shaft when the selector shaft is positioned in predetermined ones of the detent positions. Each cam serves as a memory fine tuning system for a predetermined group of adjacent UHF channels. A cam follower interconnects one of the cams and the tuning shaft, and serves to rotate the tuning shaft in response to the rotation of one of the cams by the fine tuning shaft. An indicator dial provides a numerical display of the precise UHF channel selected at each position of the detented selector shaft.

  • Patent number: 3947766
Abstract: The unit incorporates a transceiver, having a channel changing mechanism, and a radio, having a radio tuner, enclosed in a common housing for conjoint mounting. A transceiver control shaft has an inner end in operative connection with the channel changing mechanism and an outer end having a first gear secured thereto. A tubular outer shaft extends through an opening in the front wall of the housing and has a second gear secured to its inner end. An inner shaft extends coaxially through the tubular shaft, and respective control knobs are secured to the outer ends of the tubular shaft and the inner shaft. A pair of levers have their inner ends interconnected by a pivot and their outer ends respectively pivoted on the transceiver control shaft and tubular shaft, and an idler gear is freely rotatable on the pivot and meshes with the first and second gears to constitute a driving connection therebetween.
