Patent number: 6410851Abstract: A mounting system for use in an electrical housing or junction box provides a tactile indication to the installer that the housing is properly installed. The mounting system includes a keyhole shaped opening in a wall of the housing. The keyhole-shaped opening has a smaller section dimensioned to receive a shaft of a fastener and larger section to receive the head of the fastener. A neck portion between the smaller and larger sections has a width less than a width of the fastener shaft to provide interference as the fastener slides between the larger and smaller sections. In one embodiment, the neck portion is formed by two flexible arms extending into the opening. The housing is positioned over the head of the mounting member and repositioned so that the shank of the fastener slides between the two arm members. In so doing, the arm members flex outwardly, and then snap back into place after the shank is fully and properly seated in the smaller section of the keyhole shaped opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2000Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventors: Donald F. Patent number: 6176308Abstract: An inductor assembly is disclosed for protecting electronic circuitry in a downhole equipment string. The inductor assembly includes a plurality of modular inductors coupled to one another in series to provide the desired inductance. The modular inductors are supported by a support structure in a protective housing, such as in a common housing with the electronic circuitry. The inductor assembly is electrically isolated from the housing. The support structure may include insulative end members and rail members extending between the end members to which the inductors are secured. One or more insulative covers are provided around the inductors to further isolate the inductors from the housing. The inductor assembly dissipates energy in the event of certain failure modes of power supply circuitry or lines extending from the earth's surface. The inductor may be secured electrically between a neutral node in a Y-wound motor to prevent high voltage ac waveforms from damaging the electronic circuitry.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1998Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: Camco International, Inc.Inventor: Donald R. Patent number: 5875767Abstract: An ignition coil arrangement for internal combustion engines is embodied so that a housing of an individual ignition coil can be produced economically, and attachment of the ignition coil can be accomplished easily. The ignition coil is configured as a rod-type ignition coil, and the housing is of basically cylindrical shape, since a holding element for fastening the ignition coil is configured in the high-voltage output of the ignition coil itself. Assembly and retention of the ignition coil are accomplished by a direct threaded connection on the high-voltage terminal of a spark plug. For rotational immobilization, a primary terminal of the ignition coil is coupled to a fastenable mating plug as a joining member. The ignition coil arrangement is preferably used in motor vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Norbert Bock, Lothar Detels, Nikolaus Hautmann

Patent number: 5431270Abstract: A coin accepting apparatus. The apparatus includes a pair of generally parallel, spaced-apart plates. The plates define a coin track for receiving and guiding coins wherein each plate has a side facing the coin track and an opposing side facing away from the coin track. The apparatus further includes a sensor on the opposing side of one plate for detecting a characteristic of coins to be validated and first and second retainers on the opposing side of the plate for inhibiting movement of the sensor. The first retainer includes a spring arm for engaging the sensor and biasing the sensor against the opposing side of the plate. The second retainer engages the sensor and constrains movement of the sensor along an axis generally perpendicular to the opposing side of the plate.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1994Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Inventors: Ekhart Wohlrab, Hans-Ulrich Cohrs, Wilfried Meyer, Fred Cohrs, Jurgen Deters, Eginhard Matzeit

Patent number: 5373416Abstract: A ballast holder which can be fabricated from a single piece of bent sheet metal material, includes a gusseted riser structure, a base portion extending rearwardly from the foot of the riser structure, and a top flange portion extending in a forwardly direction from the top end of the riser structure for securing one of the mounting flanges of a ballast. The height of the rigid riser structure is chosen to be at least as great as the maximum height of a standard ballast to be held thereby. The ballast holder is used to install a ballast in an inverted position within a lighting fixture housing and can accommodate different sized ballasts. The ballast holder also reduces the amount of structure between the ballast and the overlying reflector element of the lighting fixture and thereby reduces the tendency of the ballast holding structure to bow or distort the lighting fixture's reflector where space is limited.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: Peerless Lighting CorporationInventor: Michael T.
