Abstract: Described is drug infusion device with one or more vents that permit the passage of gas between the exterior and interior of the device's housing. In one embodiment the device may include multiple interior chambers of differing volume and pressure sensors placed between them, while vents to ambient pressure are included in each chamber. According to this exemplary structure, the readings from the pressure sensor may be used to determine malfunctions in the venting of the device and/or changes in pressure that could cause the unintended delivery of medication.

  • Patent number: 8884770
Abstract: A cost effective manometer is realized for accurately measuring back pressure in all types of vents and ducts. Common back pressure can be caused by restrictions, such as lint or soot buildup. The manometer consists of a main body having two reservoirs for storage of measuring fluid. The first reservoir contains measuring fluid during transit eliminating the need for end user to manually fill manometer prior to first use. Measuring fluid is transferred to second main reservoir prior to initial use. The second reservoir contains an adjustable bladder or plunger for obtaining a zero reading prior to measurement. The manometer can be used on all types of vents and ducts where positive or negative pressure exists. The manometer can be used for measuring positive or negative pressures as well as differential pressures.

  • Patent number: 8878685
Abstract: To provide reliable notification of a fault state when a power supply to a calculation processing portion is in the OFF state when a power supply to a communication processing portion is in the ON state. An isolating circuit, an inverting circuit inverting a signal branch-outputted through an output line of the isolating circuit, and a selecting circuit that uses the signal outputted from the output line of the isolating circuit as a first input and the inverted signal from the inverting circuit as a second input, to select either the first input or the second input, depending on a selection setting status thereof, to output the selected signal to the communication processing portion are provided. A +5 V voltage is applied through a resistor to the output line of the isolating circuit. This +5 V voltage is produced through the power supply supplied from the second double-wire transmission path.

Abstract: A method for alerting an operator during linkage overload in a machine is disclosed. The method includes calculation of operational height of a payload carrier. Fluid pressure in one of a lift cylinder assembly and a tilt cylinder assembly is sensed and weight of a payload based on the fluid pressure is calculated. Maximum payload height based on the pressure of at least one of the lift cylinder assembly and the tilt cylinder assembly, is determined Based on the maximum payload height, a threshold payload height is determined and compared with an operational height of the payload carrier. When the operational height of the payload carrier is equal to or greater than the threshold payload height, at least one of a warning generation event and limiting raising of the lift cylinder assembly occurs.

  • Patent number: 8850868
Abstract: A tamper detector is provided for safeguarding a radiological source that is moved into and out of a storage location through an access porthole for storage and use. The radiological source is presumed to have an associated shipping container approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for transporting the radiological source. The tamper detector typically includes a network of sealed tubing that spans at least a portion of the access porthole. There is an opening in the network of sealed tubing that is large enough for passage therethrough of the radiological source and small enough to prevent passage therethrough of the associated shipping cask. Generally a gas source connector is provided for establishing a gas pressure in the network of sealed tubing, and a pressure drop sensor is provided for detecting a drop in the gas pressure below a preset value.

  • Patent number: 8749393
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting leakage of flowing liquids from pipes includes an upstream flow-rate sensor positioned between a source of a flowing liquid which is conducted from a source to a destination terminal such as a VAV heat exchanger, and a downstream flow-rate sensor positioned between an outlet port of the destination terminal and a return line for the flowing liquid. The apparatus includes electronic control circuitry which is responsive to a differential flow-rate between upstream and downstream measured flow rates which exceeds a predetermined limit value in removing a valve-opening signal to the upstream shut-off valve, thus closing the valve to interrupt flow of liquid through the valve if the differential flow-rate signifies a leak. Optionally, the apparatus also includes a downstream shut-off valve positioned between the destination terminal and a return line, which is also closed in response to a differential flow-rate exceeding the limit value.
