Prerecorded Message Describes Position Patents (Class 340/996)
  • Patent number: 11892302
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating dynamic indications relating to a modification of a route guidance. Original navigational directions are generated along an original route between a starting point and a destination. Due to modified traffic conditions, it can happen that an alternative route is preferable. Therefore an alternative route is provided which is different from the original route. According to the invention, when a vehicle is located at a current location on the original route, an alternative route to the destination is determined, comprising the location of the deviation between the original route and the alternative route. The method also comprises the generation of an acoustic indication relating to a modification of the route guidance in accordance with the zoom level of a map section, represented on a display, in respect to the location of the deviation.

  • Patent number: 11620666
Abstract: Systems and methods for on demand local commerce are described. One example embodiment includes a device gathering location information and product interest associated with clients and client devices. The system may use location information in determining that the first plurality of client devices are within a first geographic area during a first time period, and may further use the interest information in calculating an interest level for a first product. A threshold may be identified and used in determining that the interest level for the first product exceeds the threshold. When the calculated interest level exceeds the threshold, a local commerce action is initiated. In various embodiments, the local commerce action may be a live on demand auction at a particular location, an offer associated with a geofenced area, a sales location recommendation to a merchant, or any other such local commerce action.

  • Patent number: 11486717
Abstract: In order to determine navigation instructions, a mapping server can use digital map data, which can include a set of intersections connected by road segments. In some cases, the mapping server generates navigation guidance data for one or more intersections of digital map data. Responsive to a request for navigation instructions from a client device, the mapping server can generate a navigation route between an origin and destination location, and a corresponding set of navigation instructions can be generated based on the navigation route. In some implementations, the generated navigation instructions are then modified to clarify or otherwise improve the quality of the navigation instructions. Finally, the finalized navigation instructions can be sent to a client device for display to the requesting user.

  • Patent number: 11247693
Abstract: A key fob includes selectors for performing conventional remote operations (e.g., locking/unlocking doors) as well as a “pet mode” selector. When the pet mode selector is pressed by a user, a coded wireless signal is sent to a vehicle computer. The vehicle computer is operatively connected to multiple vehicle systems that each controls various features of the vehicle. Responsive to receipt of the coded wireless signal, the vehicle computer instructs a selected group of the systems to operate in a specified manner so as to create a comfortable environment for a pet within the vehicle. For example, in pet mode, the vehicle computer may cause one or more windows to lower, the sunroof to open the trunk lift gate to pivot open, and the seat backs of one or more rows of seats to tilt or fold down.

  • Patent number: 8019352
Abstract: A system and method for estimating the position of wireless devices within a wireless communication network combines measured RF channel characteristics for the wireless device with one or more predicted performance lookup tables, each of which correlates an RF channel characteristic to some higher order network performance metric and/or a position within an environmental model. Measured RF channel characteristics for wireless devices are compared against the performance lookup tables to determine the sent of lookup tables that most closely match the measured RF channel characteristics. The positions within the environmental model corresponding to the selected set of matching lookup tables are identified as possible locations for the wireless device. The performance lookup tables are uniquely constructed by site-specific location, technology, wireless standard, and equipment types, and/or the current operating state of the communications network.

Abstract: An emotive advisory system for use by one or more occupants of an automotive vehicle includes a computer. The computer is configured to receive input indicative of an operating state of the vehicle. The computer determines at least one of a need to provide time information to an occupant based on the operating state of the vehicle and an occupant request to provide time information to the occupant. The computer generates data representing an avatar having an appearance, and data representing a spoken statement for the avatar. The spoken statement provides time information to the occupant in spoken dialog based on at least one of the need and the request. The computer outputs data representing the avatar for visual display, and data representing the statement for the avatar for audio play.

  • Patent number: 7990259
Abstract: A vehicle ignition key includes a shank portion securely attached to a grip portion including a housing with an exterior housing surface. An actuation switch includes a switch contact surface complementary with the exterior housing surface, and is electrically coupled with a digital message controller and a power source. The housing defines a chamber which can hold the digital message controller, the power source, and/or a message generator. The message generator can transmit a message from the digital message controller. Actuation of the actuation switch upon rotation of the ignition key in the ignition switch is facilitated by the complementary surfaces, and initiates processing of stored data and transmission of the digitized data from the digital message controller to the message generator.

  • Patent number: 7979203
Abstract: A method for operating a navigation device including a processor, a signal receiver for receiving position signals, a road network database that also contains position data on tunnels (tunnel attributes), a position finding unit that determines the current position of the vehicle, a display unit and a display control for controlling the adjustments of the display unit, particularly for regulating the brightness and/or a color scheme of the display unit. The display control is able to change the adjustment of the display unit while driving through a tunnel (tunnel mode). The method can include determining the vehicle position with consideration of the received position signals and automatically activating the tunnel mode of the display unit by means of the display control immediately or with a certain time delay if the determined vehicle position features a tunnel attribute and the received position signals fall short of a predetermined signal quality.

  • Patent number: 7610147
Abstract: A map data processing unit includes a batch update section and dynamic update section. A type of update data fed from an update data input section is decided using header information. If the update data is route search data, the batch update section collectively updates all the map data to latest version map data according to the update data from the update data input section. If the update data is not the route search data, the dynamic update section updates the map data to the latest version map data according to the update data every time the map data becomes necessary. Thus performing the collective or dynamic update according to the type of the update data enables the update to the latest map data without affecting the operation speed of a navigation function, with minimizing the time precluding the use of the navigation function.
