Abstract: A layer transferring device includes: a main casing having an opening and accommodating a heat roller, a motor, and a first transmission gear therein; a film cartridge; and a cover at which a pressure roller and a second transmission gear is provided and movable about a pivot axis to open and close the opening. The heat roller is movable toward and away from the pressure roller when the cover is closed. When the film cartridge is attached to the main casing and the cover is closed, the multilayer film contacts and passes through between the pressure roller and the heat roller. When the cover is closed, the first transmission gear for receiving a driving force from the motor and the second transmission gear for transmitting a driving force to the pressure roller are positioned between the pivot axis and the heat roller and in meshing engagement with each other.

  • Patent number: 9731524
Abstract: A cutter blade moving mechanism moves a cutter blade to a forward position by a low output drive motor without an urging member urging the cutter blade to the forward position where media is cut. The first cutter blade moving mechanism has a drive gear that moves the first cutter blade forward and back; a drive motor; and a compound gear to which rotation of the drive motor is transferred. The intermittent teeth part of the compound gear meshes with a transfer gear after turning the compound gear is started by drive power from the drive motor, completing a rotation transfer path. Because there is a delay between when driving the drive motor starts and when the path transferring rotation from the drive motor to the drive gear is completed, rotational kinetic energy is stored in the compound gear during this delay. The transfer gear can therefore be turned with greater drive power (rotational kinetic energy) when the compound gear and transfer gear mesh.

  • Patent number: 5440402
Abstract: According to a method and apparatus for recognizing a paster portion of a web, each pixel data of a printed matter serving as a reference is stored as reference image data. Each pixel data of a printed matter serving as a test target printed on the web is stored as test image data. The reference image data is compared with the test image data in units of pixels to detect defective pixels. The paster portion of the web is recognized on the basis of a generation pattern of the defective pixels.

Abstract: In a device for transporting sections (28) of a recording substrate from a recording mechanism, the recording mechanism has a cutting unit (12) for separating the sections (28) from the recording substrate. The cutting unit can be moved, in a cutting stroke and in a return stroke, transversely to the direction of transport (A) of the recording substrate across its width. Transport elements (32, 38) for grasping and advancing the separated sections (28) are disposed behind the cutting station in the direction of transport (A) and can be coupled by means of a gear arrangement (14, 24, 52, 50, 44, 36) to the cutting unit (12) in such a way that, upon the return stroke of the cutting unit (12), they grasp the separated section (28) and advance it in the direction of transport (A).

  • Patent number: 5355156
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for automatically clamping and releasing film material onto or, respectively, from the recording drum of a reproduction device with vacuum suctioning. The device is composed of a roll film cassette, of a conveying and guide surface, of a film cutting means, of a film length measuring means, of a pressure means having a pressure roller, of a lift-off means having lift-off finger, as well as drives for turning the recording drum and for conveying the film material to the recording drum. The recording drum comprises axially proceeding suction hole rows for suctioning the film material by vacuum. A vacuum distributor controllable by the rotational motion is arranged in the recording drum, this vacuum distributor successively connecting the individual suction hole rows to the stationary vacuum pump during clamping, so that the suction hole rows are charged with vacuum step-by-step with increasing wrap of the recording drum by the film material.

Abstract: A printer that prints characters or graphics on tape by means of a thermal print head, having a cutting means that cuts the tape at predetermined positions, and control means which act to eliminate printing defects such as gaps, or spaces, between printed dot strings. Gaps between printed dot strings, caused by a tape cutting operation that pulls the tape past the print head, is eliminated by the control means which reverses the tape feed mechanism in order to slacken the tape just prior to cutting. After cutting, the control means forwards the tape by an amount less than or equal to the amount reversed and printing is resumed. Printer also provides means for entry of lead margin length, total tape length, character spacing and character string to be printed by means of a keyboard. Rear margin length is computed by the printer.
