Abstract: This invention provides an improved display system and method that is created by adjusting the properties of one or more displays to obtain coarse control over display behavior, by using sensors to optimize display parameters. The display is further improved by constructing a display map by selectively driving the display and sensing the optical image created. Furthermore, the sensors are used to ensure that the resulting optimized display meets target quality measurements over time, potentially taking into account ambient conditions. The system reports on its status, and is able to predict when the system will no longer meet a quality target. The system and method is able to optimize a display system and keep it optimized over time. Individual displays with the display system can have operating points that are matched to each other. Corrections to the input image signal to deliver improved display system performance can be minimized, and therefore, the unwanted artifacts of those changes can be minimized.

Abstract: An image projection apparatus includes processing circuitry that receives, for each surface of a plurality of surfaces in a projection region, an adjustment value to increase or decrease an effective distance from an imaging device to a curved position of the surface. The processing circuitry further determines, for each surface, a curved shape of the surface in accordance with a change of distortion corresponding to the effective distance that was increased or decreased by the received adjustment value. The processing circuitry further calculates, for each surface, correction parameters to correct the distortion of projection images projected onto the surface, in accordance with the determined curved shape of the surface. The processing circuitry further divides an image into a plurality of divided images in accordance with positions and sizes of the each surface of the plurality of surfaces in the projection region.

Abstract: A device, system and method for automatic calibration of image devices is provided. Triplets of at least three image devices, including a projector, are in non-collinear arrangements, and pairs of the image devices have overlapping fields of view on a physical object. Pixel correspondences between the pairs are used to determine relative vectors between the image devices. Relative locations between each of the image devices are determined based on the relative vectors with a relative distance between one pair of the image devices is to an arbitrary distance, the relative locations being further relative to a cloud-of-points representing the object. A model of the object and the cloud-of-points are aligned to transform the relative locations of each of the image devices to locations relative to the model. The projector is controlled to project onto the object based at least on the locations relative to the model.

Abstract: A display control apparatus causes a plurality of images to be arranged and projected by a plurality of projection units. An obtaining unit obtains an overlap value for indicating a width at which a portion of a first image and a portion of a second image overlap. A control unit causes the plurality of projection units to project the plurality of images which includes at least the first image and the second image by overlapping the portion of the first image and the portion of the second image by a width based on the overlap value. Also, the control unit causes the portion of the first image and the portion of the second image to overlap by the width based on the overlap value by changing a size of a projected image.
