  • Patent number: 11234004
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for block type prediction leveraging block-based pixel activities are disclosed. A pre-encoder generates predictions of block types for the blocks of a video frame based on associated pixel activities. For each block, the pre-encoder calculates the difference between the pixel activities of the block of a current frame and the pixel activities of a corresponding block of a previous video frame. If the difference is less than a first threshold, the pre-encoder predicts that the block will be a skip block. If the difference is in between the first threshold and a second threshold, the pre-encoder predicts that the block will be a P-block. Otherwise, if the difference is greater than the second threshold, then the pre-encoder predicts that the block will be an I-block. The pre-encoder uses the predictions to select quantization parameter (QP) ranges for encoding the blocks of the video frame.

  • Patent number: 10523978
Abstract: A content provider might be responsible for content transmitted over a large number of channels, including premium channels that may have fixed quality settings. In order to provide the appropriate quality, the encoders for the premium channels are able to obtain the bit rates (and other capacity) needed. The total bit rate used for the premium channels can then be compared against a maximum bit rate for all channels for the provider to determine a remaining bit rate. The remaining bit rate can then be allocated, evenly or otherwise, across the various non-premium channels. Transmission components such as statmuxes used for the non-premium channels can be configured to adjust the bit rates as necessary based at least in part upon the allocation. Such an approach enables the premium channels to provide the fixed quality ensuring that the aggregate bandwidth meets the bit rate limit.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus includes decoding circuit, setting circuit, processing circuit, first buffer, second buffer, and display unit. The decoding circuit generates a plurality of decoded video signals. The setting circuit selects a main decoded video signal and at least one sub-decoded video signal from the decoded video signals. The processing circuit processes main decoded video signal and sub-decoded video signal(s) to generate a processed video signal. Each of these two buffers serves as on-screen buffer for storing the processed video signal being displayed or to be displayed and serves as on-process buffer for storing the processed video signal being mixed or to be mixed, cyclically. The first and second buffers do not serve as on-screen buffer simultaneously, and the first and second buffers do not serve as on-process buffer simultaneously. The display unit cyclically displays the processed video signal read from first buffer and second buffer.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying multiple images on a single display. A plurality of unique video sources may be provided where each video source provides video frames having a plurality of vertical lines. A portion of the vertical lines are captured for each video source and transmitted to the display. The partial video frames may then be re-assembled into a single video frame which can be shown on the display. The display contains a masking where only certain vertical lines are viewable at certain angles. The masking may allow two or three images to be simultaneously visible to the observer, depending on the angle of viewing the display. Wireless or wired transmission may be used. Some embodiments also use a sound focusing device which may be synced with the video source so that separate sound messages can also be observed depending on the angle of viewing the display.

  • Patent number: 8175325
Abstract: Watermark information (denoted WM) consists of several symbols which are embedded continuously by reference sequence modulation in an audio or a video signal. At decoder site the WM is regained using correlation of the received signal with a corresponding reference sequence. The symbols form watermark data frames. The invention uses for the bit values ‘zero’ and ‘one’ in each payload symbol and for each payload symbol in a watermark data frame different reference sequences, without using synchronisation symbols. A logarithmic search is performed in the WM decoder to reduce the numbers of correlations to be calculated. The invention makes watermarking of critical sound signals much more robust.

In the present invention, stereoscopic/multiview three-dimensional video data having a plurality of images at the same time are coded into a plurality of elementary streams. The plural elementary streams output at the same time are multiplexed according to the user's selected display mode to generate a single elementary stream. After packetization of the single elementary stream continuously generated, information about the stereoscopic/multiview three-dimensional video multiplexing method and the selected display mode information are added to the packet header of the stream. Then the packetized elementary stream is sent to the image reproducer or stored in storage media.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a digital video recording method, and in particular, when a recording mode is audio detection, according to an audio signal transmitted from a mike mounted on a camera or a mike mounted separately, this method records the video taken by said camera during the time period for which a recording speed and video resolution is already set as super-high speed and high video resolution. After the elapse of an already set time period, when the audio signal is sensed, this method records the video by varying the recording speed and video resolution from super-high speed and high video resolution into low-speed and low video resolution at a time interval which is already set. Therefore, it becomes possible to obtain the specific information about the video data which is important in an unmanned security system.
