Synchronized With Shutter Patents (Class 352/199)
  • Patent number: 9280034
Abstract: A movie set can include light sources each producing a light corresponding to a light channel, at least one high-frame rate camera, and a controller connected to the light sources and camera to synchronize the camera and light sources. The number of light channels can be proportional to the frame rate. For example, if the filming frame rate is 120 frames per second (fps) and the playback frame rate is 24 fps, then 5 light channels can be used. In this example, for every one playback frame, 5 frames were filmed by the high frame rate camera. The controller modulates the light channels such that each of the 5 frames has different lighting characteristics. In post-production, contributions from each of the light channels can be included or excluded from the final frame. An optical flow algorithm can be used to stitch together frames with different dynamic light characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9261755
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed by which the movement of virtual continuous light sources illuminating various objects or persons in a scene, can be simulated over arbitrary paths throughout the captured scene. The simulated movement of each virtual continuous light source through a captured scene can be created using a stationary array of discrete light sources, and for which no physical movement of the array or the discrete light sources is required. The actuation of each of the discrete light sources can be performed sequentially according to a pre-specified sequence by a controller. Control signals for actuating the discrete light sources are synchronized with frames captured by a camera, such that the camera never sees the transitions from illuminating one discrete light source of the array to illuminating another.

  • Patent number: 8953095
Abstract: The invention provides a flash light device, which includes a light source, a light diffuser and a light diffuser's driving unit. The light diffuser's driving unit provides the light diffuser with a required driving voltage according to a voltage information, in which the voltage information is determined according to an original image without light-complementing of the light source and a pre-flash image with light-complementing of the light source.

  • Patent number: 6545742
Abstract: A lighting system comprises a plurality of switchable light generators the light output from which can be switched ‘on’ or ‘off’. The system further comprises a camera to which light from a scene illuminated by a designated light generator is directed, a scene record inhibitor and a sync. signal generator means which is arranged to synchronise switch operation of the light generators with operation of the record inhibitor. In this manner the camera records light from the scene only when the scene is illuminated by the designated light generator.
