With Or For Vehicle Patents (Class 353/13)
  • Patent number: 11816862
Abstract: A head-up display device as a vehicle display device projects display light onto a front windshield of a vehicle, displays a virtual image by reflected display light, on the front windshield, so as to be superimposed on a real scene transparent through the front windshield, captures an image of a driver of the vehicle by projecting infrared light onto the driver, and detects the positions of the eyes of the driver based on the captured image. A control unit detects the position of a feature point of the face of the driver in the captured image and stores a positional relationship with the detected positions of the eyes, and, when it is difficult to detect the positions of the eyes in die captured image, estimates a viewpoint position of the driver based on the position of the feature point detected at this time and the positional relationship stored beforehand.

  • Patent number: 11663939
Abstract: An augmented reality head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle includes one or more image-capturing devices that capture image data of an environment surrounding the vehicle, a graphic projection device for generating images upon the windscreen of the vehicle, and a controller in electronic communication with the one or more image-capturing devices and the graphic projection device. The controller executes instructions to receive object detection data indicating a current position of objects located within the environment surrounding the vehicle. The controller executes instructions to compare the current position of the objects within the environment with a visual location of the objects within the environment determined based on the image data to identify a visually occluded object located within the environment. In response to identifying the visually occluded object, the controller determines a contextual graphic that signifies the visually occluded object.

  • Patent number: 9481287
Abstract: A roadway projection system integrated into a vehicle is configured to identify a specific driving scenario encountered by a driver of the vehicle, and to then project an image onto a roadway along which the vehicle travels based on that scenario. The image is intended to provide guidance to the driver in negotiating the identified scenario and/or to visualize potential driving actions of the driver for the benefit of others. The image could be, for example, and without limitation, an indicator that the driver should follow to perform a specific driving or navigation action, or a preference that the driver wishes to share with other drivers. In addition, the roadway projection system may detect images projected by other roadway projection systems in other vehicles and to determine mutual preferences shared between drivers. When a shared preference is violated, the roadway projection system may alert the driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: First image data representing a first view, captured by a camera system, of a second location, is displayed at the first location. The first view is associated with a first orientation relative to the second location. A first angular displacement associated with a motion of a chair disposed at the first location is determined. Information representing the first angular displacement is transmitted to the camera system. Second image data representing a second view of the second location associated with a second orientation is displayed at the first location, the second orientation having a relationship to the first orientation based on the first angular displacement.

  • Patent number: 9004691
Abstract: A head-up display device for projecting an image on a display screen includes: a liquid crystal display element for generating an original image; a light source for emitting light toward the liquid crystal display element; a reflection mirror for reflecting a light image of the original image passing through the liquid crystal display element and for projecting the light image on the display screen; and a concave cylindrical lens having a concave surface and disposed between the liquid crystal display element and the reflection mirror. The concave surface has a curved shape along with x axis of three-dimensional coordinates of the concave cylindrical lens. The concave surface extends along with y axis. The concave surface is rotated around the x axis so that z axis of the concave surface is tilted from an optical axis from the light source to the reflection mirror.

  • Patent number: 8950868
Abstract: The head-up display device sequentially displays a virtual image (51V) of a guide light from one end of a reflector (30) side, in the back inside of a virtual image (83V) of an opening bezel formed into a square frame displayed along an outer edge of a projection area (71) of a window shield, and further displays a virtual image (20V) of display information in the back thereof. The amount of travel of the virtual images (51V) of the guide light when the reflector provided in the head-up display device rotates is smaller than the amount of travel of the virtual image (20V) of the display information. Therefore, even if the virtual image (20V) of the display information falls outside the projection area, the virtual images (51V) of the guide light remain in the projection area, and are displayed.

The light source may be a laser light source and the light therefrom may be directed onto the aircraft blade by one or more motion controlled mirrors and a computer controller. A sensor is capable of determining the position of helicopter blades during rotation, such that light may be projected upon only the moving blade at precisely timed intervals, so as to form perceivable graphics and/or messages thereon. In addition, the method may be utilized for displaying graphics and/or messages on rotating propellers of fixed wing aircraft.
