  • Patent number: 8427746
Abstract: The present invention discloses a stereoscopic image display system and a method of controlling the same. An eye tracking module locates current 3D spatial positions of the viewer's eyes, and generates the information of both left and right eyes' current 3D spatial positions. A control module controls a display device that can alter the direction of the light outputted, and outputs images on the display device in time multiplex mode. The light containing the left eye image is outputted to the position of left eye instead of right eye at one time point, and the light containing the right eye image is outputted to the position of right eye instead of left eye at another time point, so that a stereoscopic image is perceived according to the parallax theory. The present invention enlarges the visual range of stereoscopic image and achieves a better stereoscopic image visual experience for viewers.

  • Patent number: 7740359
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying images from a video projector. The apparatus includes a virtual projector screen assembly with an elongate screen element, such as a rod, that is mounted at one end to a base. The base is adapted for pivoting about its axis, arid a driver mechanism pivots the, base at high frequencies. During operation, the screen element oscillates between two edge positions with images projected from the projector being displayed on a side of the screen element facing or proximate to the projector. The two edge positions can be thought of as intersecting at the base and define a sweep angle (e.g., the angular difference between the two outer travel points of the screen element that is typically less than about 90 degrees). The driver may include a motor with an oscillating output shaft that pivots the base such as with a belt attached to the base.

  • Patent number: 7605776
Abstract: This invention provides a stereoscopic-vision image processing apparatus, a stereoscopic-vision image providing method, and an image display method that are capable of managing specification of display unit on which a stereoscopic-vision image is desired to be displayed as accessory information (assumed display information). The assumed display information includes a type and a display size of the display unit on which a stereoscopic-vision image is desired to be displayed. This allows an appropriate stereoscopic-vision image to be obtained by specifying a type or a display size of the display unit that is desired to be displayed with them being combined with the stereoscopic-vision image and scaling the stereoscopic-vision image up or down, in display of a stereoscopic image, in accordance with the type or the display size of the display unit.

  • Patent number: 6833952
Abstract: A stereoscopic display apparatus 20 is employed in combination with an image transmission section 10. A case 1 includes a half-mirror 3, a visual field lens 4 and polarizers 22L, 22R therein, and an observation port 23 with a hood is defined in the case 1. A band 25 to be worn on a viewer's head is disposed in the exterior of the case 1. Both of the polarizers 22L and 22R are so designed as to display the stereoscopic images for the right and left eyes on the basis of data transmitted from the image transmission section 10, respectively, and the image lights are guided to the viewer's eyes through the half-mirror 3 and the visual field lens 4. The stereoscopic display apparatus 20 is of the head mount type that guides the images for the right and left eyes projected onto one display screen which is formed of the half-mirror 3 to the right and left eyes.

  • Patent number: 6341867
Abstract: In a polarized light illumination apparatus, randomly polarized lights emitted from first and second light sources are respectively separated by a polarized light separating and combining element into two different types of polarized lights. Secondary light source images are formed at locations shifted from each other in an x direction, whereby polarization is aligned in the same single direction. At least two condensing mirror plates of first to third condensing mirror plates are shifted in parallel from the center axis of the polarized light separating and combining optical element so that secondary light source images formed by z-polarized lights (polarized in a z direction) emitted from the first and second light sources are superimposed upon each other, and secondary light source images formed by x-polarized lights (polarized in an x direction) emitted from the first and second light sources are superimposed upon each other.

  • Patent number: 5879064
Abstract: A masking-amount guide device for a stereo slide can verify suitable masking amount by observing a stereo slide film strip with the following constitution. Projection lenses 13R and 13L and focusing plates 14R and 14L are provided in a frame 54, a film guide 16 is disposed at the rear. Lens boards 52R and 52L are respectively engaged with the guide slots 55R and 55R of the frame. The right and left guide slots are obliquely moved symmetrically to the optical axis, the lens boards are obliquely moved by the rotation of a cam shaft 25 so that the inner edges of the focusing plates are always brought into agreements with the inner edges of the projection pictures irrespective of the projection magnification. The cam shaft is rotated while observing the images of the focusing plates so that the images are observed at the back of the same plane or pattern as the collimation pattern of the focusing plate.
