  • Patent number: 9004727
Abstract: A reflector device for a light source device having a light emitter, wherein the reflector device includes first and second reflectors. The first reflector has a first reflector surface adapted to produce a first light beam and the second reflector has a second reflector surface different from the first reflector surface and which is adapted to produce a second light beam different than the first light beam. The second reflector is adapted to be removably coupled to the first reflector such that both reflectors are coupled to the light source device at the same time. This allows a user to change a beam pattern of the light source between a first, default, beam pattern and a second beam pattern by interchanging the second reflector on the light source.

  • Patent number: 8979329
Abstract: A curved wall, square-shaped reflector assembly includes multiple reflector wall sections and multiple enclosure wall sections. Each reflector wall section is slidably coupled to a respective enclosure wall section by positioning a top reflector flange of the reflector wall section above a top support flange of the enclosure wall section and aligning alignment features on the enclosure wall section with holes on the reflector wall section. In addition, a bottom flange of the reflector wall section is positioned below a bottom edge of the enclosure wall section, thereby providing a consistent tension along the wall surface of the reflector wall section. Each enclosure wall section includes flange members on opposing side edges. Each of the combined reflector-enclosure wall sections are positioned orthogonal to one-another and coupled together along the adjacent flanges from the adjacent enclosure wall sections with rivets. The assembly reduces light leak without damaging the reflector surface.

  • Patent number: 8974098
Abstract: A bicycle light for securing to a handlebar or other part of a bike, or to a rider's helmet, has an angled front face that allows use of a single, flat LED circuit board with one or more deep conic or parabolic reflectors positioned in front of the upper part of the board and one or more shallow reflectors in front of the bottom part of the board. This provides for both a spot beam produced by the deep reflector and flood light produced by the shallow reflector, in a compact and efficient assembly. Another important feature of the device is side lighting which can be independently controlled, important in affording the rider side lighting while in street traffic but the option to pulse or switch off the side lighting when riding on a trail.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling light shading and thermal insulation in a light transmissive structure is disclosed. An array of adjacently-positioned, inflatable first tubes is provided, each of the first tubes being inflatable to abut an inflated adjacent first tube. Each of an array of inflatable second tubes is nested within, and inflatable independent of one of the first tubes. Each of the second tubes is connected to one of the first tubes such that when not inflated, each of the second tubes is flattened within the one of the first tubes. When inflated, each of the second tubes abut an inflated adjacent second tube via first tubes. The first tubes are preferably clear, while the second tubes are made of a reflective material.

  • Patent number: 8960958
Abstract: A light-emitting diode (LED) troffer adopts LED light sources mounted along two lengthwise sides of an LED module that uses a reflecting diffuser and a diffused light exit window to sufficiently average white light emissions from a plurality of LEDs or to properly mix light emissions from white LEDs at correlated color temperature (CCT) of 6,200±300 K with emissions from LEDs having saturated colors for uniform and tunable CCT light outputs having a consistent intensity or color hue within viewing angles. The troffer adopting a retrofittable design enables single person to readily hang and secure the LED module single-ended on top of the troffer for installation, retrofit, and inspection. The troffer uses such an integrated LED module with a power density less than 0.0127 W/cm2, and thus no apparent heat sink is needed.

Abstract: An optical system is provided having a first optical element for directing LED light received outwards, and two second optical elements each disposed to receive a portion of the light from a different one of two opposing ends of the first optical element so that the second optical elements redirects such portion of the light received outwards. Light from the optical system is preferably collimated along a first dimension, and non-collimated along a second dimension perpendicular to the first dimension. The first optical element and second optical elements are disposed in an integrated structure to facilitate mounting of the optical system upon a circuit board having LEDs which provide light to the first optical element. A light bar is also provided having multiple sets of LEDs on circuit boards, where each set provides light to a different one of the optical systems.

  • Patent number: RE49320
Abstract: A lighting device, such as a replacement lighting device, comprising a light source (LS), e.g. LEDs, for producing light along an optical axis (OA). A heat sink (HS) made of a material with an electrical resistivity being less than 0.01 ?m, e.g. a metallic heat sink being a part of the housing, transports heat away from the light source (LS). A Radio Frequency (RF) communication circuit (CC) connected to an antenna (A) serves to enable RF signal communication, e.g. to control the device via a remote control. Metallic components, including the heat sink (HS), having an extension larger than 1/10 of a wavelength of the RF signal are arranged below a virtual plane (VP) drawn orthogonal to the optical axis (OA) and going through the antenna (A). Hereby a compact device can be obtained, and still a satisfying RF radiation pattern can be obtained. The antenna can be a wire antenna or a PCB antenna, e.g. a PIFA or a IFA type antenna.
