  • Patent number: 11773050
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for producing bio-fuel (BF) from a high-viscosity biomass using thermo-chemical conversion of the biomass in a production line (10) with pumping means (PM), heating means (HM) and cooling means (CM). The method has the steps of 1) operating the pumping means, the heating means and the cooling means so that the production line is under supercritical fluid conditions (SCF) to induce biomass conversion in a conversion zone (CZ) within the production line, and 2) operating the pumping means so that at least part of the production line is in an oscillatory flow (OF) mode. The invention is advantageous for providing an improved method for producing biofuel from a high-viscosity biomass. This is performed by an advantageous combination of two operating modes: supercritical fluid (SCF) conditions and oscillatory flow (OF).

The ejection of the liquid from the liquid outlet causes the cantilevered reed to vibrate at an intrinsic frequency. The vibration of the cantilevered reed induces resonance between the liquid and the cantilevered reed and the resonance results in an ultrasound wave within the liquid. Upon the introduction of a gas into the liquid within the mixing chamber, the mixing of the gas into the liquid is effected by the ultrasound wave generated by the cantilevered reed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a piston vibrator comprising a case with at least one cylindrical bore (5), at least one air connection (7) taken laterally to the bore (5), and a piston (2) longitudinally displaceable in the bore (5). As a means of making such a vibrator more efficient with a given outside diameter, or as a means of making it more compact and smaller with the same degree of efficiency, the invention proposes that the cylindrical bore (5) should extend asymmetrically to the external wall area (6) of the case, at least at the axial level of the air connection (7).

  • Patent number: 4885098
Abstract: An elastic bar member is coupled to an orbiting mass oscillator and the entire assembly is suspended from a cable or the like such that the bar member has freedom of lateral motion and is nakedly immersed in a slurry having particulate material contained therein such as a mineral ore reject from which metal has been extracted. The rotor of the orbiting mass oscillator is driven at a speed such as to generate cycloidal sonic energy in the bar preferably at a frequency such as to set up resonant standing wave vibration of the bar in a cycloidal quadrature pattern. The cycloidal vibrational energy tends to set the surrounding fluid material into a whirling rotation or rotary traveling wave which facilitates the agglomeration or coagulation of the particles in the material and enhances the settling operation to make for more complete separation of the particles from the liquid.

Abstract: An elastic bar member is clamped to an orbiting mass oscillator and the entire assembly is suspended from a cable or the like such that the bar member has freedom of lateral motion and is nakedly immersed in a leachant having a material contained therein such as a mineral ore from which metal is to be extracted. The rotor of the orbiting mass oscillator is driven at a speed such as to generate cycloidal sonic energy in the bar preferably at a frequency such as to set up resonant standing wave vibration of the bar in a cycloidal nutating pattern. The cycloidal vibrational energy tends to set the surrounding fluid material into a whirling rotation or rotary traveling wave which facilitates the mixing of the ore and leachant and enhances the leaching operation to make for more complete separation of the mineral from the ore.

  • Patent number: 4824258
Abstract: A screw shaped rotor is freely mounted for rolling rotation in a mating screw shaped stator which is mounted in a housing. The rotor is rotatably driven by means of a fluid stream to generate sonic energy in the housing with a lateral mode of vibration at a frequency which is the function of the rate of fluid flow. The oscillator housing is coupled to the load which it drives uniformly along the entire length of the oscillator. The drive fluid for the oscillator is coupled thereto through a flexible coupling such as a section of rubber hose so that this coupled end of the oscillator is not substantially constrained against lateral vibration and is free to vibrate laterally along with the rest of the housing. The oscillator housing may be coupled along its entire length to the load to be vibrationally driven or can be suspended in a liquid which is to be vibrationally energized.

Abstract: The invention relates to a concrete mixer truck having a rotatably driven mixer drum, particularly a drum provided with interior mixing elements, and a hydraulic system as a drive source for the mixing process. It is intended to enhance the effect of the mixing process by transmitting vibration energy to the mixture materials. To this effect, a vibration generator is included in the hydraulic system in such a manner that pressure pulses generated in the flow of the hydraulic fluid are superimposed on the mixing movement in the form of vibrations. This superposition effect may be achieved with respect to the rotation of the drum and/or with respect to the movements of a separate mixing tool.

  • Patent number: 4435083
Abstract: A rotary vibrator having a cylindrical shape and an outer cam strip running the length thereof is mounted in a housing which has a matching inner cam strip and is affixed to a structure to be vibrated. Vibrator migratory movement during operation causes the vibrator cam strip to engage the adjacent surface of the housing and the housing cam strip to engage the adjacent surface of the vibrator. This wedging effect gives rise to a third point of vibrator-housing contact located essentially equidistant from the other two contact points and displaced therefrom approximately 120.degree.. Thus, a secure inter-locking between the vibrator and its mount is achieved. A source of compressed gas may be attached at either end of the vibrator and an exhaust outlet located in the vibrator directs the pressurized driving fluid into the space between the vibrator and housing for vibrator cleaning and lubrication and for quieter vibrator operation.

  • Patent number: 4428678
Abstract: A vibrator is provided which includes a free rolling rotor contained in a housing having a nose end portion. The rotor has a number of pockets for receiving ball pistons. Each pocket communicates with a valve port. Pressurized fluid sequentially passes through each valve port to the pocket with which the particular valve port communicates. In the pocket accessed by the pressurized fluid, a fluid chamber is created. The ball piston prevents the escape of fluid outwardly of the rotor. The pressurized fluid, in each accessed fluid chamber, causes the rotor to roll in the housing. The rotor rolling around within the housing applies centrifugal forces to the inside wall of the housing to produce vibrations. The fluid escapes from the rotor using the same valve ports which deliver the pressurized fluid. In addition, an assembly is provided in the housing to prevent the separation of the nose end portion from the housing when the nose end portion becomes worn and tends to separate from the housing.
