Abstract: A disk cleaning scrub module comprising a scrub lane and a plurality of brushes that rotates and scrub washes a plurality of disks having a diameter D in the scrub lane, wherein a disk-to-disk center distance for scrub wash of the plurality of the disks is S and a ratio of S/D is greater than 1 and less than 1.6 is disclosed.

Abstract: A cassette library (1) is provided with a driving apparatus (13), cassette housing shelves (14, 15) and a cassette carrier (16). A library controller (2) simulates as if driving apparatuses (13) having continuous address numbers were apparently used in the host computer (3) even when physically discontinuous address numbers are allocated to the driving apparatus (13), thereby making it possible to set occupancy for a driving apparatus with an arbitrary address number. The library controller (2) has the cassette carrier (16) automatically carry, at a preset timing, a cleaning cassette from the cassette housing shelf (14, 15) to the driving apparatus (13) to clean a recording reproduction head of the driving apparatus (13) using the cleaning cassette which is then carried back to the housing section in the original cassette housing shelf (14, 15) after the cleaning work.

Abstract: A cleaning and scrubbing apparatus is described which consists of a vacuum head to which is coupled small hollow fibers. Each of the fibers has a diameter of approximately the size of the record groove so that it may fit within the record groove to scrub away debris formed within the groove. A cleaning fluid is be placed over the record to partially dissolve the debris so that the fibers can loosen it as the record is rotated across the fibers. The vacuum causes the cleaning fluid including the debris to be sucked through the hollow opening of the fibers. The side walls of the fibers may be a membrane material so that additional fluid flows through the side walls. In order to clean the cleaning head, the fluid is forced in the reverse direction while the head and fibers are facing upright, thereby washing away the debris which has become affixed to the fibers.

Abstract: A disc cleaning device is provided in an apparatus for transferring information to or from a disc, which apparatus includes a base, means for rotating the disc, and means for transferring information to or from the disc, the information transferring means held by an arm movably mounted on the base, the disc cleaning device comprising means for cleaning the disc mounted rotatably on the arm, means for operatively associating the disc cleaning means with a surface of the disc when the information transferring means is in an inoperative mode, and means for disassociating the disc cleaning means from the surface of the disc when the information transferring means is in an operative mode.

Abstract: An improved brush contact for a phonograph tone arm dynamic stabilizer. The contact includes bristles on a base, with free ends fanned in an arc. A portion of the bristles contact a record surface. Lateral movement of the tone arm across the record pivots the bristles and base, bringing new bristles into contact with the record surface.

Abstract: A record cleaning device which attaches to the tone arm of a record player for removing dust and other undesirable material from the grooves of a phonograph record without significant interferring with the normal tracking of the phonograph cartridge. The device includes a brush for brushing the undesirable material from the grooves of the phonograph record, and an elongated strip of thin, lightweight and flexible material for flexibly supporting the brush above and in contact with the grooves of the phonograph record in which the flexing action of the brush and that of the strip in relation to the brush weight allows for joint, commensurate and comparable flexing action of both during record playback. In a further embodiment a motion damper is mounted between the brush and the strip to stop energy exchange between them and to dampen feedback vibrations to the tone arm.

Abstract: A stylus cartridge is equipped with a pair of integrally-molded flexural retaining fingers for locking a stylus arm within the confines of the cartridge body. When a slider member disposed on the cartridge is acted upon, it spreads the retaining fingers apart to release the stylus arm.

Abstract: A signal reproduction apparatus comprising a pick-up means with a playback stylus tracing on engraved grooves of a record disk and a shaving means abutting on only the top portions of several number of the engraved grooves, wherein the shaving means effectively scrapes dust on the disk surface during the tracing movement in advance of the tracking motion of the playback stylus along the engraved grooves.

Abstract: An attachment for a phonograph pickup cartridge capable of removing static and stabilizing vibration of the cartridge body. A brush comprising bristles capable of engaging the inside of the grooves of a disc-type phonograph record is coupled to the cartridge body through a bearing which provides a mechanical resistance capable of damping both vertical and lateral vibrations. The brush is made from an electrical conductor, such as carbon, and is connected to the shield of the cartridge to remove static electricity from the surface and grooves of the record.
