Systems For The Transmission Of Television Signals Using Pulse Code Modulation (epo) Patents (Class 375/E7.001)

  • Patent number: 11598844
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that enable full-duplex operation for radar sensing using a wireless communication chipset. A controller initializes or controls connections between one or more transceivers and antennas in the wireless communication chipset. This enables the wireless communication chipset to be used as a continuous-wave radar or a pulse-Doppler radar. By utilizing these techniques, the wireless communication chipset can be re-purposed or used for wireless communication or radar sensing.

  • Patent number: 10289856
Abstract: Multiple data sets are preprocessed by WF muxing before stored/transported. WF muxed data is aggregated data from multiple data sets. The original data is reassembled via WF demuxing after retrieving a lesser but scalable number of WF muxed data sets. A customized set of WF muxing on multiple digital files as inputs including at least a data message file and a selected digital envelop file, is configured to guarantee at least one of the multiple outputs comprising a weighted sum of all inputs with an appearance to human natural sensors substantially identical to the appearance of the selected digital envelop in a same image, video or audio format. The output file is the file with enveloped or embedded messages. The embedded message may be reconstituted by a corresponding WF demuxing processor at destination with the known a priori information of the original digital envelope.

  • Patent number: 10116972
Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for identifying a video segment displayed on a screen of a remote television system, and providing an option to switch to an alternative or related version of the video program that includes the video segment. For example, video segments displayed on a screen of a television system can be identified, and contextually-targeted content or contextually-related alternative content can be provided to a television system based on the identification of a video segment. The alternative or related version of the video program can include the currently displayed program in an on-demand format that can be viewed off-line and can be started over from a beginning portion of the program.

  • Patent number: 9928190
Abstract: Direct communication of data between processing elements is provided. An aspect includes sending, by a first processing element, data over an inter-processing element chaining bus. The data is destined for another processing element via a data exchange component that is coupled between the first processing element and a second processing element via a communication line disposed between corresponding multiplexors of the first processing element and the second processing element. A further aspect includes determining, by the data exchange component, whether the data has been received at the data exchange element. If so, an indicator is set in a register of the data exchange component and the data is forwarded to the other processing element. Setting the indicator causes the first processing element to stall. If the data has not been received, the other processing element is stalled while the data exchange component awaits receipt of the data.

  • Patent number: 9787550
Abstract: An example method disclosed herein includes receiving, at a controller device, a user input; based on the user input, displaying a prompt to direct a user to press one or more buttons on a playback device; subsequently, receiving from the playback device over a first network, network information associated with the playback device; determining, based on the received network information, that the playback device is not a part of a secure playback network; based on a determination that the network information is not a part of a secure playback network, generating network parameters for a secure second network; subsequently, (i) joining the secure second network based on the generated network parameters, and (ii) causing the playback device to join the secure second network based on the generated network parameters; and displaying an indication that the controller device and the playback device have joined the secure second network.

Abstract: Supplemental information to a media content such as a video can be shown to the user. The supplemental information can be selected based upon a profile of the user and one or both of the identity of the media content and the identity of an entity of interest in the media content. The supplemental information can be customized to the user based on the content being viewed and an entity of interest to the user in the viewed content.

  • Patent number: 9608717
Abstract: A gateway device includes a media processor module comprising a gateway application module. The gateway device also includes a router module comprising a gateway abstraction module and an interface handler module. The gateway device also includes a shared interface module in communication with the router module and the media processor module. The shared interface module receives a service request signal from the gateway application module. The gateway abstraction module obtains the service request signal from the shared interface module through an interface handler module. The gateway abstraction module communicates a response signal to the media processor module through the shared interface module. The media processor module performs a function in response to the response signal.

  • Patent number: 8942289
Abstract: A digital media encoder/decoder includes signaling of various modes relating to computation complexity and precision at decoding. The encoder may send a syntax element indicating arithmetic precision (e.g., using 16 or 32-bit operations) of the transform operations performed at decoding. The encoder also may signal whether to apply scaling at the decoder output, which permits a wider dynamic range of intermediate data at decoding, but adds to computational complexity due to the scaling operation.

  • Patent number: 8942466
Abstract: Sensory input processing apparatus and methods useful for adaptive encoding and decoding of features. In one embodiment, the apparatus receives an input frame having a representation of the object feature, generates a sequence of sub-frames that are displaced from one another (and correspond to different areas within the frame), and encodes the sub-frame sequence into groups of pulses. The patterns of pulses are directed via transmission channels to detection apparatus configured to generate an output pulse upon detecting a predetermined pattern within received groups of pulses that is associated with the feature. Upon detecting a particular pattern, the detection apparatus provides feedback to the displacement module in order to optimize sub-frame displacement for detecting the feature of interest.

  • Patent number: 8290106
Abstract: The present invention relates to a linear time code (LTC) generator that is adapted to generate LTC data. The LTC generator comprises a rising edge detector that is adapted to detect a frame sync input corresponding to a beginning of a frame time of video data and to generate a first synchronization signal corresponding to the frame sync input and a frame length measurement block that is adapted to count a number of clock cycles in the frame time. The LTC generator further comprises a bit rate calculator that is adapted to determine a bit rate of the frame time based on the number of clock cycles in the frame time and a bit rate counter block that is adapted to generate a second synchronization signal corresponding to the bit rate.

  • Patent number: 7599079
Abstract: A high-quality image processing apparatus capable of performing image transfer processing using a predetermined work buffer even if different decoding methods are used, without physically increasing the memory capacity. Image data in page description language is inputted into a host I/F unit from an external device such as a host computer. At step S302, a print mode of the input data is examined and a coding method is selected. Next, at step S303, a decoding method corresponding to the coding is checked, and at step S304, a band height (width) is set in correspondence with the decoding method. If the decoding method is a non-realtime decoding method, the band height is reduced to half of that in case of realtime decoding method.

  • Patent number: RE40936
Abstract: At the transmitter side, carrier waves are modulated according to an input signal for producing relevant signal points in a signal space diagram. The input signal is divided into two, first and second, data streams. The signal points are divided into signal point groups to which data of the first data stream are assigned. Also, data of the second data stream are assigned to the signal points of each signal point group. A difference in the transmission error rate between first and second data streams is developed by shifting the signal points to other positions in the space diagram expressed at least in the polar coordinate system. At the receiver side, the first and/or second data streams can be reconstructed from a received signal. In TV broadcast service, a TV signal is divided by a transmitter into, low and high, frequency band components which are designated as a first and a second data streams respectively.
