Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining television content that a particular user is currently watching on a television. The method further includes determining, using one or more of a plurality of sensors, an attention level for the particular user. The attention level indicates an amount of attention paid by the particular user to the television content on the television. The method further includes determining, using one or more of the plurality of sensors, demographic information for the particular user. The method further includes storing the determined demographic information for the particular user and the particular user's attention level for the television content in the storage media.

Abstract: Computer apparatus and methods for brokering communications between a plurality of virtual devices, each virtual device being a proxy for one of a real device or a real requestor. The computer apparatus comprises a registrar computer configured to communicate with a plurality of virtual devices and maintain a register of the virtual devices. The computer apparatus also comprises a data feed directory comprising entries indicating data feeds and/or resources available to virtual requestor devices from at least one virtual device registered with the registrar computer. Abstract: Disclosed are a system and method of integrating an on-demand compute environment into a local compute environment. The method includes receiving a request from an administrator to integrate an on-demand compute environment into a local compute environment and, in response to the request, automatically integrating local compute environment information with on-demand compute environment information to make available resources from the on-demand compute environment to requestors of resources in the local compute environment such that policies of the local environment are maintained for workload that consumes on-demand compute resources.

Abstract: Methods and systems for pairing two or more devices, such as a remote control and a display device, are described. The controlling and managing can occur utilizing one or more network connections or communication paths. An example method can comprise a second device receiving a device identifier of a first device via a first network, receiving the device identifier of the first device via a second network, matching the device identifier received via the first network and via the second network, and establishing an association between the first device and the second device over the first network and the second network.

Abstract: A system, method, apparatus, and computer program product for configuring a network connected appliance to use online services are disclosed. A method may include receiving an indication of a selected home automation system for a network connected appliance. The selected home automation system may be selected from multiple available home automation systems. The method may additionally include registering the network connected appliance to the selected home automation system. The method may also include enabling communication between the network connected appliance and the selected home automation system.

Abstract: A system and method for integrating one or more resource servers for one or more types of devices are described using an enterprise service bus and network appliance as a service (NAaaS) application services. The enterprise service bus receives a request for one or more types of media, determines a first communication protocol of the request and one or more types of second communication protocols of the one or more resource servers, translates the request from a first communication protocol into one or more types of second communication protocols for one or more resource servers and retrieves one or more results matching the translated request from the one or more resource servers. A NAaaS application services determine one or more resource servers that the request is for based on the request matching a global index.

Abstract: Disclosed is an on-demand system and method for managing resources in an on-demand compute environment from a local compute environment. The method includes receiving information at a local resource broker that is associated with resources within an on-demand compute environment, based on the information, communicating instructions from the local resource broker to the on-demand compute environment and modifying resources associated with the on-demand compute environment based on the instructions.

Abstract: Dynamic configuration of identifiers of a computing device is described. A computing device may assign identifiers to interfaces, and may send one or more requests through one or more of the interfaces to access a network. A response to the request may be analyzed to determine whether it includes a code that the device understands to be from the network. If the response did not include such a code, the device may determine whether to re-assign the identifier currently assigned to a primary or default interface to another interface of the multiple interfaces.

Abstract: A system and method for translating requests and responses between different types of devices are described. An enterprise service bus generates a first list of one or more devices, receives a selection from a user associated with a first device of a second device in the first list, generates a second list that includes functions associated with the selection from the first user, receives a request from the first device to perform one of the functions in the second list, translates a first communication protocol of the request received from the first device into a second communication protocol used by the second device to create a translated request, translates a first message format of the request into a second message format and transmits the translated request to the second device.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for participants to perceivably modify a performance using participant devices. A participant device, being connected through a network to a performance, such as a conference, a live event, a pre-recorded event or any type of gathering, captures the participant input actions and communicates such input actions to a server. The server collects and aggregates the received input actions and used the aggregations to calculate modifications to the performance. The performer device of a performer being part of the performance receives and displays the calculated modification and executes such modification to perceivably modify the said performance.

Abstract: A method of tunneling management traffic includes receiving at a managed system a control feature from a proxy-managed system that is connected to the managed system, determining that the proxy-managed system is not visible to a management system, providing the control feature to the management system in response to determining that the proxy-managed system is not visible, receiving a modification to the control feature from the management system, and providing, from the managed system, the modification to the control feature to the proxy-managed system in response to receiving the modification to the control feature from the management system.

Abstract: A secondary television receiver device includes one or more television tuners that can be integrated into a whole-home television receiving system. The secondary device that is enhanced with tuner capability registers the tuners with a primary receiver, which allocates tuners from available sources as needed. The tuned video stream may be directed to the primary television receiver for storage, trick play or other features prior to re-transmission to the ultimate viewing device. Alternatively, the received video stream may be directly rendered to a video display attached to the enhanced secondary receiver.

Abstract: An integrated remote control system controls a plurality of peripheral electronic devices by a certain integrated operation to provide use convenience of the electronic devices. The integrated remote control system includes an integrated control device configured to store control codes of the peripheral electronic devices and provide the at least one control code of the peripheral electronic devices according to a request. The integrated remote control system also includes a user remote control device configured to request the integrated control device to transmit the control code for controlling the peripheral electronic device, receive the requested control code, and control the at least one of the peripheral electronic devices.

Abstract: A packet communication device for communicating a packet to be transferred in constant cycle, comprising one of a logic inversion section configured to invert a logical value with respect to at least one bit included in a first string of bits included in a first packet; and a register section configured to store another string of bits having a logical value different from a given logical value of the first string of bits; and a selector section configured to select one of the first string of bits and a second string of bits that is output from one of the logic inversion section and the register section to designate any one of a plurality of devices, wherein the packet communication is performed when a selected string of bits selected by the selector section conforms to a setting value of a receiving side.

Abstract: Pixels in a window, which corresponds to the position of an input pixel and has a predetermined size, are extracted from a reduced image obtained by reducing an input image to a predetermined scale. Substitute data used to substitute the value of the input pixel is generated based on the extracted pixels in the window. The difference value between the substitute data and input pixel value is calculated and is compared with a first threshold value. When the difference value is smaller than the first threshold value, the input pixel value is substituted by the substitute data. Thus, low-frequency noise reduction can be attained using a minimum required memory size while suppressing adverse effects such as a resolution drop and the like.

Abstract: A video data communication system and method are disclosed which provides for the secure transmission of video data among devices connected to a video data bus. The video data is transmitted with address information corresponding to a particular device or, alternatively, video data is encrypted and transmitted on the data bus without address information.
