  • Patent number: 10326804
Abstract: A telecommunications network includes a telephony application server (TAS). In some examples, the TAS receives, from a terminal, a session-initiation request identifying a called party. The TAS sends structured text (e.g., XML, or JSON) identifying the called party (e.g., data of an anyTimeInterrogation query payload) to an information server (e.g., an HLR), which responds with structured text of a destination-terminal address dynamically bound to a terminal associated with the called party (e.g., data of a sendRoutingInformation reply payload). In some examples, the TAS receives Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) request data from a terminal. The TAS sends structured text indicating the USSD string and an identifier of the terminal to a USSD gateway via an Internet-Protocol-based Lightweight Protocol (IPLP), e.g., HTTPS, and receives structured text including USSD answer data. The TAS sends, to the terminal, a report message comprising the USSD answer data.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a vehicle occupant with hands-free usage of text messaging services over a mobile phone via a vehicle telematics unit. The method enables a vehicle occupant to send and receive communication messages such as text messages in a hands-free manner. For sending text messages, a spoken communication message is received from the occupant at the vehicle and sent to a call center for conversion to a text message using a speech to text server. The converted text message is then sent to the mobile phone for texting to the intended recipient. Received text messages can be sent from the mobile phone to the telematics unit, converted to speech and played audibly to the occupant in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9323442
Abstract: User interface changes related to moving items in a user interface are disclosed. An operation (e.g., a drag operation) can be initiated on selected items by moving a cursor or pointing device in the user interface, and an animation can be presented illustrating representations of the selected items moving from their respective original locations toward a current location of the cursor or pointing device and forming a cluster in proximity to the current location of the cursor or pointing device. As the cluster of items is moved over a container object in the user interface, the representations of the items can adopt the appearance style defined by that container object. The representations of the items can also be shown to depart from the cluster and move toward anticipated locations of the items in the container object as a preview of a drop operation into the container object.

  • Patent number: 9282177
Abstract: A method and system for displaying and producing computer based documents seamlessly to users that relate to their telephone calls is provided. The invention is able to be used with social media, where the mobile station searches for the social media page of the caller based on the Caller ID and displays it to the recipient of the call on the mobile station screen, possibly with other Internet search results. The method and system allow the user to obtain the newest public information about the person who calls him or he decides to call, or any documents that might be intermittent between the people. The system adds “bandwidth”, i.e. speed, efficiency and more dimensions to personal communication, as the users of the inventive system can also visually see by documentation what is going on in the relationship between two or more people.

  • Patent number: 9237077
Abstract: A system monitors the status of persistent connections between a set of servers and a set of clients, and identifies any clients not having at least one active connection with a server. The monitoring system, such as a visual voicemail system, includes a monitoring server, a bind agent, and probe services running on respective servers. Upon receiving a monitoring request from the monitoring server, the bind agent requests each probe service to identify the clients having active connections with the associated servers. The bind agent forms an aggregated list of all clients having active connections with one or more of the servers and based on the aggregated list, the agent identifies any clients not having at least one active connection with a server and notifies the monitoring server of the identified clients.

  • Patent number: 9203961
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for conveying availability information of a calling party to a called party. A PBX serving the telephones of the calling and called parties is connected to a presence server. In an embodiment of the invention, the presence server is also connected to a computer and/or other information device (such as a personal data assistant or telephone) of the calling party. After the calling party has left a voice mail message for the called party, the called party will subsequently retrieve the message. In an embodiment of the invention, the PBX then queries the presence server as to the availability of the calling party. The presence server senses whether the calling party has indicated his or her presence; if so, it is inferred that the calling party is probably present and available for a return call. If the presence server detects no such indication by the calling party, it is inferred that the calling party is likely to be absent.
