Type Drum Having Multiple Type-set-assemblages Patents (Class 400/152)
  • Patent number: 5810489
Abstract: The present invention is intended to facilitate the replacement of printing types and to eliminate mistakes in the replacement thereof. A printing type wheel 2 and a stock wheel 3 are coaxially arranged. The printing type wheel 2 is provided with an attachment part for inserting and attaching a printing type unit 5 for printing on an object F to be printed. The printing type unit 5 is detachably stocked in the stock wheel 3. The printing type unit 5 is taken out from the stock wheel 3 with a robot 6 so as to be attached on the printing type wheel 2. Ink is deposited to the printing type unit 5 attached on the printing type wheel 2 with an ink roller 45. The printing type wheel 5, the stock wheel 3 and the ink roller 45 are warmed with the heater 30 and the heater 46.

  • Patent number: 5113759
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a small-size printer capable of performing a printing operation with a desired type on a rotatable type drum being held at a print position by impacting a hammer towards the type drum across a recording paper loaded therebetween. The latch mechanism comprises a group of type drums composed of type drums of three digits each comprising a lock groove wheel for fixing one type drum selected among three drums at a print position by one type selection operation; a group of lock levers movable between its initial non-print position and its print position, which is disposed so as to correspond to each of the type drums, and constantly biased by a lock lever spring toward the lock groove wheel to lock the type drum in a print position; and a group of lock lever holding means capable of actuating the lock lever by being attracted by an electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 5104248
Abstract: In a miniature printer including a carriage for motion along a path in linear reciprocating directions having at least one cam surface, a frame including a projection adjacent to the path and a print wheel having at least two levels of print type, a mechanism for shifting the position of the print wheel between the different print type levels. The mechanism is coupled to the print wheel and responsive to contact with the projection as the mechanism travels by the projection in shifting the print wheel position through engagement with the cam surface.

  • Patent number: 4856922
Abstract: The printer is mounted on a desk-top computer and can print both numeric characters and graphic and calculation symbols in two different colors. The characters and the symbols are provided in a relief configuration in accordance with a matrix of rows and columns on a rubber sheet wrapped around a rotatable drum. The characters in adjacent columns are inked by an inking roller formed by adjacent porous discs which are alternately impregnated with red and black ink. The drum can perform a translatory movement in the axial direction selectively to present to the printing hammers the columns of characters which are linked with black and the columns of characters which are linked with red. The drum is translated fixedly with respect to the inking roller by means of a cam which rotates at a speed half the speed of the drum and engaged with one or other of two cam follower pins which can be selected by means of a solenoid.

  • Patent number: 4683819
Abstract: A compact printer having a cylindrical support member and a type carrier member externally affixed to the support member. A type printing assembly is disposed within the type drum for causing characters on the type carrier member to print. A motor for rotating the type drum is connected directly to the drum and disposed immediately adjacent to the type drum with axes of rotation being colinear. A paper feed drive for feeding paper one time per revolution of the type drum includes an intermittent tooth on an end of the support member, a feed gear for being turned by engagement with the intermittent gear, and a paper feed roller driven by the feed gear to feed paper to be printed on. A generating means including a cam on the type drum, positively generates an output indicative of a given position of the type drum.

  • Patent number: 4609295
Abstract: A hand-held printing calculator for printing calculating results on elongated paper strips from a bundle of paper strips disposed within the calculator is provided. The calculator includes a microprinter having a paper feeding assembly including feeding elements disposed before and after the print position and in the same plane as the advancing paper for maintaining the paper flat during printing. In another embodiment of the invention, a detection sensor detects the absence of a paper strip at the print position for generating a signal for feeding the next paper strip so that paper is continuously fed to the print position.

  • Patent number: 4542998
Abstract: A printing apparatus is provided which utilizes rolling pressure contact for printing, and includes a plurality of sets of serially arranged character elements mounted for movement on the external surface of a printing drum. Movement of the sets to place a desired character into printing position is accomplished by controlling the speed of a motor driving a pulley connected by cable to a given character set, relative to the speed of a motor driving the printing drum in rotational movement.

  • Patent number: 4416557
Abstract: A serial printer for use in portable electronic calculators and the like. The printer includes a single printing head having a plurality of characters divided into two groups circumferentially disposed therearound in a predetermined pattern. A selecting mechanism includes two ratchet wheels. The teeth on one ratchet wheel correspond to the positioning of the characters in the first group of characters and the teeth on the other ratchet wheel correspond to the positioning of the characters in the second group of characters. The ratchet wheels are moveable between a first position in which the first set of teeth are operative and a second position where the second set of teeth are operative.

  • Patent number: 4138942
Abstract: The present device is a means for printing multi-lines of characters simultaneously on a continuously moving print receiving medium or form and in a manner eliminating the need for indexing the form line by line and column by column. Multiple type fonts are arranged in helical paths around a continuously rotating drum, the axis of which is positioned at an angle to the path of movement of the form whereby each font is effective to print an individual line of character on the form as it progresses along its path of movement.

  • Patent number: 4089263
Abstract: An impact printer in which a printing drum having a plurality of lines each containing different characters is associated with printing hammers. The printing hammers are driven into contact with the characters by a driving shaft having a driving projection thereon. The driving projection is separated into driving projection sections which are axially and radially displaced along the driving shaft. Each section will selectively engage different printing hammers so that all hammers will not operate at once for the same characters. The characters in the lines are also displaced angularly of the printing drum so that some of the characters in one line will be printed responsive to one driving projection and the other characters in the one line will be printed in response to the other driving projection section.
