By Friction Drive (e.g., Including Regulation Of Increments) Patents (Class 400/571)
  • Patent number: 8834308
Abstract: A transporting apparatus is disclosed. The transporting apparatus comprises a mounting plate; a assistant wheel assembly attached to the mounting plate, the assistant wheel assembly comprising an inner wheel, an outer wheel, and an elastic member; the elastic member is between the inner wheel and the outer wheel; a driving wheel movably attached to the mounting plate; a driving member secured to the driving wheel; and a belt connecting the outer wheel and the driving member; wherein the elastic member is generally deformed at a location where the belt warps on the outer wheel.

  • Patent number: 5674019
Abstract: In a serial page printer for printing an image line by line by scanning a printing head, even if a motor for driving a roller for conveying a printing medium is rotated by a predetermined amount, the printing medium is not conveyed by a predetermined amount depending on decentering of the roller, the position of the printing medium, and the like, resulting in a printing error. In order to prevent this, a predetermined position of the roller is brought into contact with each line of a printing medium. For this purpose, an apparatus of the present invention detects that the position of the printing medium and the state of the roller are in a predetermined state. Therefore, a line subjected to printing and the state of the roller have a predetermined relationship on any page, and the printing medium can be conveyed by a predetermined amount for each line by adjusting the rotational amount of the roller for each line in advance.

  • Patent number: 4553869
Abstract: A mechanical torque transmitting apparatus such as a one-way clutch which includes two distinct sets of flexural arms (primary and auxiliary) and a cylindrical engagement surface. The primary flexural arm is adapted to be in edgewise continuous engagement with the cylindrical surface. Preferably, the primary flexural arm has a long, straight, narrow cross-section area and applies a relatively low force against the cylindrical surface when said surface is rotating in a free-wheeling direction. In the non free-wheeling direction, the force against the cylindrical surface increases until the rotational forces overcome and buckle the primary flexural arm whereupon the auxiliary flexural arm is brought into contact with the cylindrical surface to resist further rotation.

  • Patent number: 4349287
Abstract: An intermittent paper feed mechanism comprises a driving wheel rotationally driven in an intermittent manner, a driven wheel disposed opposite to and rotated by the driving wheel, a stopper means for restricting the angle of rotation of the driving wheel and a coiled return spring for biasing the driving wheel in a direction opposite to its rotational driven direction. The driving and driven wheels, the stopper means and the return spring are coaxially mounted on a common shaft. The device of the invention enables a paper on which characters are printed by a printing head to be advanced at a high accuracy in an intermittent manner without using a stepping pulse motor.

  • Patent number: 4279524
Abstract: An apparatus which may be used, for example, for feeding a record medium in a printer. The apparatus includes a rotatable member having means thereon for connection to the platen of the printer, and also having teeth on the periphery thereof and a driving surface thereon. The apparatus also includes a rotatable driving unit having at least one driving member or camming lug thereon to engage the teeth and thereby incrementally rotate the rotatable member as the driving unit is rotated. The apparatus further includes a coupling means moveable between first and second positions whereby the coupling means is operatively disconnected from the driving unit and the rotatable member when the coupling means is in the first position, and whereby the coupling means when in the second position is effective to disconnect the camming lug from the teeth and to also operatively connect the driving unit with the driving surface to continuously rotate the rotatable member as the driving unit is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4270866
Abstract: An attachment for installation upon a typewriter for applying musical notations to a sheet material and comprising a frame pivotally mounted on the typewriter body, the frame including a bridging member at one end of the frame adjacent the platen of the typewriter and a secondary keyboard at the opposite end of the frame. The bridging member carries rotatable, axially parallel cylindrical members spaced along the length thereof and oriented generally vertically to engage plural rollers oriented axially parallel to the platen and engaged thereagainst. The secondary keyboard carries individual keys, each having depending stems selectively engageable with a spring biased lever when a selected one of said keys is depressed. The keys each represent an imprinting location on a musical staff for application of the musical characters controlled by the principal keyboard of the typewriter.
