Abstract: A printing system provides consumable use estimation for print jobs using an estimation system and the digital front end (DFE) of a printing device. A hybrid consumable use estimation process is enabled that minimizes impact to the production printing at the printing device. The DFE of the printing device generates a consumable use estimate using an estimate job queue and raster image processor (RIP) separate from the normal job queues. The estimate job queue does not generate print data. Using the rendered data, the DFE generates the consumable use estimate and returns it to the estimation system. The printing device then prints the document for the print job and provides the actual consumable use to the estimation system for monitoring and tracking of consumable use. In some instances, the estimation system performs the consumable use estimation when a condition exists at the DFE at the printing device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for decoding secure tags using an authentication server and secure tag reader. The system can include at least one processor and at least one non-transitory memory. The memory can contain instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the secure tag reader to perform operations. The operations can include detecting a potential secure tag in an image and generating a normalized secure tag image using the image and a stylesheet. The operations can further include providing an identification request to an authentication server, the identification request including the normalized secure tag image. The operations can additionally include receiving rules for decoding tag data encoded into the secure tag as tag feature options and decoding the tag data using the received rules.

Abstract: A method of pairing a handheld printer/scanner device with a barcode printer acting as the host is disclosed. The pairing will further enhance the functionality of the host barcode printer. Specifically, the pairing process is initiated when a printer process that requires a handheld printer/scanner device is initiated. The method enables a handheld printer/scanner device to print to a host barcode printer, and also enables the host barcode printer to receive a barcode scan of the case label of received food items and retain information from the barcode scan for future printing of food freshness labels.

In some examples, text suggestions strokes entered on a touch sensitive surface are viewed and selected in response to a rotatable input mechanism. In some examples, text determined from a set of strokes on the touch sensitive surface is revised based on a subsequently entered stroke on the touch sensitive surface. In some examples, a determination is made whether to include a stroke in a set of strokes based a time between the stroke and the previous stroke. In some examples, determining text based on a set of stroke is interrupted to determined revised text based on the set of strokes and a second stroke.

With this configuration, even if the identification code written in an RFID tag is read and the RFID tag is duplicated, the duplicated RFID tag can be accurately and effectively determined as being counterfeit.

The application executing part receives the print job from the external apparatus via a network. Then, the application executing part confirms whether or not the print buffer has space to the port for printing. When the print buffer cannot be used, an application executing part notifies the external apparatus for stopping the transmission of the print job until it becomes available.

Abstract: A method and system for printing graphical content onto a plurality of memory devices and for providing a visually distinguishable memory device are provided. In one embodiment, graphical content to be printed onto a plurality of memory devices is identified. A graphical image is then created from the identified graphical content, wherein the graphical image comprises a plurality of sub-areas, wherein each sub-area contains graphical content and corresponds to at least one memory device of the plurality of memory devices. The graphical image is then printed onto the plurality of memory devices, wherein the plurality of memory devices are positioned to substantially correspond with positions of the plurality of sub-areas in the graphical image.
