  • Patent number: 11916362
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a cable tray fitting with tray connector and a flexible membrane with opposite longitudinal ends. The tray connectors are secured to the opposite longitudinal with each being secured to one of a pair of adjacent cable tray sections. The flexible membrane allows relative movement between the cable tray sections. The disclosure provides a cable tray assembly including first and second cable tray sections each with a longitudinal end. The cable tray assembly includes a cable tray fitting secured to and disposed between the longitudinal ends of the first and second cable tray sections. The disclosure provides a method of assembling a cable tray assembly by securing a cable tray fitting to opposing and adjacent longitudinal ends of first and second cable tray sections and allowing the cable tray sections to move in three dimensions relative to one another by virtue of the flexible membrane.

  • Patent number: 10900215
Abstract: The reinforced joint for a beam-column connection is provided for improving the resistance of steel-framed buildings against progressive collapse. Flange stiffening plates reinforce flanges of structural beams, with beam web stiffeners being attached to and extending between the flange stiffening plates. Additional column web stiffeners are attached to and extend between flanges of a structural column. A longitudinal cover stiffening plate is attached to the column stiffeners and the flange stiffening plates, extending across the joint and at least partially covering the beam web stiffeners. The reinforced joint between the structural beams and the structural column develops catenary action in the structural beams in the event of collapse.

  • Patent number: 10087615
Abstract: A connection apparatus may be used to connect truss sections or other objects. A connection segment is mounted on each truss to be connected. Each of a first and second connection segment has an opening, in alignment with each other to receive a fastener. The opening of the first connection segment allows the fastener to pivot. The second connection segment has a side opening which allows the fastener to pivot inside and outside the body of the second connection segment. The fastener has a threaded end and a locking end. The locking end may be secured against an outer surface of the second connection segment. In the locked position the locking end of the fastener engages the outer surface of one the second connection segment and the fastener is prevented from rotational or axial movement. The connection segments are thus fixed relative to each other as are the truss sections on which the connection sections may be mounted.

Abstract: A domed structure (500) comprises a plurality of struts (505) of equal or a reduced number of differing lengths. The struts are held in place by hubs (510, 515, 1400). In one aspect, a first hub secures the ends of inserted struts at a constant distance from its center, while other hubs secure the ends of inserted struts at predetermined distances from their centers. The differences between the various predetermined distances is the difference in strut lengths required by the design of the structure. Thus all struts are of equal length and identical, or a reduced number of lengths, resulting in an economy of scale and ease of construction. A cover can be added after the structure is built. Abstract: A modular structural system includes a hub in the general shape of a polygon, such as a hexagon or octagon, which may be somewhat rounded or may have a regular shape. The system includes a plurality of other structural members, such as hub spokes, for interfacing adjacent the hub, and leg spokes, for interfacing with the hub or with the hub spokes. The system also includes cross braces for providing additional support between the hub spokes and leg spokes. The hub, the hub spokes, leg spokes, and cross braces are joined by bores in the individual pieces and a plurality of dowels or rods placed into the bores. From these modular pieces, and currently available structural members, many useful and recreational structures may be assembled and then disassembled, such as frames, garden structures, furniture, shelving, and the like.

  • Patent number: 7637076
Abstract: The invention is a novel moment-resistant building column insert system for distributing lateral and vertical loads between the column-beam and column-foundation connections. Loads are distributed between the column and beam using a column insert, nut plates and beam end plates incorporated to beam-ends. The column insert is hollow and similar cross-section shape to the building column for inserting there to. The column, column insert, nut plates and endplates have patterns of mounting holes for receiving mounting bolts tightened to nuts held by nut plates. Loads are distributed between the column and foundation using a base plate, column insert, and insert plates integrated with anchor bolts, nuts and washers in a concrete foundation. The base plate having mounting holes is incorporated to the building column bottom end to receive the plurality of anchor bolts there through for fixedly tightening as an exposed end of the column insert fits in the column.

  • Patent number: 7546987
Abstract: A cable tray is provided for supporting conductive cable and a system is provided to connect cable trays to create secure cable pathways to safely organize and support conductive cable. The system includes improved junctions for joinder of cable trays in any desired pre-formed shape that eliminates exposed sharp edges and allows for fast, easy installation. Various shaped connectors between adjacent cable trays provide secure, easy-to-install connections and maintain electrical conductivity between adjacent trays. A system for surface treating the cable trays renders the trays electrically non-conductive at desired portions of each cable tray, while leaving exposed certain portions of each tray. Mask blanks that fit the connectors and selected portions of the cable tray are used to expose electrically conductive portions of the cable trays during the treatment of the cable trays. Rollers are provided to facilitate drawing cables over the tray.
