Abstract: A device for releasably securing together two elongate cylindrical members in predetermined transversely extending relation and in selected axial and rotational relation. The device includes a housing (12) having a first bore (30) in which one end of a cylindrical member (B) is received, and a second bore (14) extending through the housing transversely to the first bore. The second bore is sized to receive a second cylindrical member (A) with close sliding fit. The device includes a key latch (40) and ring cam (60) which are couplable with the housing and the second cylindrical member for urging the second cylindrical member into frictionable engagement with portions of the sidewall of the second bore so as to lock the second member in the housing in selected axial and rotational relation to the first member. The force with which the second cylindrical member frictionally engages the sidewall of the second bore varies as a function of the rotational position of the ring cam.

Abstract: A clip for supporting a construction guide tube on a stringline rod which is adjustably clamped to a ground stake. The clip has a curved saddle shaped in the form of an approximate semi-circle. The saddle is sized to receive and retain the tube with a relatively tight press fit. The saddle is integrally attached to a tubular socket which is part of the clip. The socket has a bore sized for relatively tight insertion on the stringline rod. A method for using a plurality of the clips to form a curved guide is also described.

  • Patent number: 4900180
Abstract: A structure for connecting a branch pipe in a high-pressure fuel manifold employs a nut to fasten the branch pipe to a main pipe, the nut having threaded surfaces which are simultaneously brought into thread engagement with a collar member fitted on the branch pipe at the neck portion contiguous with the top joint portion thereof which is brought into contact with the main pipe and with a coupling member which is secured to the main pipe in such a manner as to surround the peripheral wall thereof. Therefore, it becomes unnecessary to conduct a welding operation which has heretofore been needed to connect the joint portion of the branch pipe to the main pipe. The connecting structure satisfactorily endures ultra-high fluid pressure even under vibrations. In addition, there is no fear of fuel leaking out through the joint nor risk of the branch pipe coming off.

  • Patent number: 4773665
Abstract: This invention relates to a stand for a motorcycle. The stand comprises an elongate transverse frame member, which has a non-circular cross-section, a first pair of similar elongate leg members, and a second pair of similar elongate leg members. Each leg member of both pairs has a non-circular transverse socket at one end. The shape of the socket corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the transverse frame member. The leg members are slid on the frame member and secured with the members of the first pair in a first plane at an acute or right angle to the members of the second pair in a second plane. A transverse member is mounted on each leg of the first pair for engagement with the undercarriage of the motorcycle. Alternatively, a channel member, which has a hole cut through each of its sides, the holes in register with one another, is slipped about each front fork of the motorcycle between the bottom crown and fork slider.

  • Patent number: 4712696
Abstract: A wedge connector for securing the horizontal cross beams of a storage rack to the hollow upright posts of the system. Two ear-supporting members extend laterally from an elongated shank, each of which members carries an upwardly extending welding ear. The wedge connector has a shape and carefully controlled dimensions that make it possible to insert the elongated shank and upper wedging ear into the lower slot of a pair of elongated slots in the upright post of the storage rack. The elongated shank is then pivoted up within the interior of the hollow post into a position where the upper wedging ear can be moved back out of the upper elongated slot of the pair of slots, to place the wedge connector in its operative position. The dimensions of the lower wedging ear of the wedge connector are controlled so that the lower ear can not be inserted in the lower elongated slot in the upright post.

  • Patent number: 4703769
Abstract: This invention is a lightweight, universal connector that joins stringers at various angles. The connectors 10 are fabricated from fiber-epoxy resin strips that wrap around stringers 30 and have ends, tabs 16 and 18, which extend in one general direction. The inside surface of the first tab 16 lies on a plane defined by the stringers being joined, and the second tab 18 is separated from the first tab 16 by a distance equal to their thickness. Stringers 30 of different shapes and sizes are joined by alternately bonding the first tab 16 of one connector between the first 16 and second 18 tabs of another connector. Tee-joints are formed by using web elements 41 and 42 which each partially wrap around a stringer 3010 and have tabs 411 and 421 which are offset, and are bonded between tabs 16 and 18 of universal connectors 109 and 1010 bonded to another stringer 309. Sharp corners are trimmed from the tabs so that a gusset area remains between the stringers for support.
