  • Patent number: 6415909
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying bulk material generally consisting of a support and a guide means defining a passageway. The passageway has a vertical section and a horizontal section cantilevered to the vertical section. A endless rope assembly passes around the passageway. Disc are displaced along the rope to catch and transfer bulk material along the passageway. The bulk material is injected into the passageway at the lower end of the vertical section and is ejected at the end of the horizontal section. A motor drives sprockets located at the ends of the passageway and at the cantilevered portion. Such guide means may consist of a single passageway or a pair of passageways of differing lengths, and such support may be movable on wheels.

  • Patent number: 6371125
Abstract: Apparatus for transporting rod-shaped tobacco smoke filters which contain and/or carry particles of charcoal and/or other solid particulate tobacco smoke filtering and/or flavoring material. A sender directs a series of successive filters lengthwise into a pneumatic conduit wherein the filters advance toward a receiving station. A section of the conduit has an arcuate shape and advances successive filters from a lower level to a higher level. The underside of the section has an elongated arcuate opening which is overlapped by a cover in such a way that any solid particles which became separated from the filters can be expelled into a neighboring chamber due to fluid pressure in the section as well as under the action of gravity and/or centrifugal force.

  • Patent number: 6305884
Abstract: A device for increasing the uniformity of solids within a solids fabrication system, such as a direct light fabrication (DLF) system in which gas entrained powders are passed through the focal point of a moving high-power light which fuses the particles in the powder to a surface being built up in layers. The invention provides a feed through interface wherein gas entrained powders input from stationary input lines are coupled to a rotating head of the fabrication system. The invention eliminates the need to provide additional slack in the feed lines to accommodate head rotation, and therefore reduces feed line bending movements which induce non-uniform feeding of gas entrained powder to a rotating head.

  • Patent number: 4533280
Abstract: An improved silo unloader having an ensilage cover of air impermeable thermally insulating material for limiting air contact with the surface of the ensilage. The ensilage cover rests on the surface of the ensilage and rotates with the lower part of the silo unloader. The ensilage cover is preferably constructed of upper and lower layers of air-impermeable material with an insulating material layer between. The lower layer is preferably coated with a material which is resistant to adherence of frozen material.

  • Patent number: 4284371
Abstract: A centrifugal pump driven by a tractor draws material, as liquid manure, through a suction hose and discharges the material into one of two discharge hoses. A first discharge hose directs the material back into the source of material to agitate and mix the material. The second discharge hose is used to deliver material from the pump to a transport tank spreader. The pump has a housing rotatably supporting an impeller. A cone-shaped member connects the inlet side of the housing to the suction hose. The inlet end of the suction hose has a one-way door valve which allows the material to move into the suction hose and restricts reverse movement out of the suction hose. The inlet end of the suction hose has an exit opening closed with a movable cover. The cover can be moved to an open position so that material in the suction hose can drain back into the holding area. A primer pump mounted on the housing is operable to prime the pump with fluid.
