  • Patent number: 10883533
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a spline telescopic shaft includes a masking step in which, in a prescribed axial-direction region of an intermediate manufacturing product, partial tooth grooves that are equally spaced circumferentially are respectively covered by masking members that are equally spaced circumferentially; a resin coating step in which a resin layer is formed, and inner surfaces of the partial tooth grooves covered by the masking members are left as metal exposed portions that are equally spaced circumferentially; and a coating film forming step in which, in a state where the intermediate manufacturing product provided with the resin layer is centered with respect to a broach via the metal exposed portions, the intermediate manufacturing product and the broach are caused to slide relative to each other in an axial direction by press-fitting such that the resin layer is shaved to form a resin coating film.

  • Patent number: 6637088
Abstract: In order to manufacture parts with an outer profile, a workpiece 32 is pressed by a pressure piece 24 through a ring-shaped cutting tool 34. The cutting tool 34 has a plurality of disks with inner cutting edges 62 for removing material from the workpiece 32. The cutting edges are progressively longer in the advance direction, so that each cutting edge removes material chips and the last cutting edge in the advance direction corresponds to the desired outer profile of the part. In order to improve chip removal, the chip chambers 74 located between the cutting edges communicate with the outside through radial connection openings 128 which are distributed all around their circumference. To hold the workpiece 32 securely on the pressure piece 24, a pressure pad 76 extends through the cutting tool 34 and is supported on the side of the workpiece 32 opposite to the pressure piece 32, and a hydraulic piston 80 generates a compression force on the pressure pad 76.

  • Patent number: 4869623
Abstract: A broaching method for finishing an outer peripheral surface of a resin layer of a resin-coated lobe-type rotor for a rotary fluid machine of a Roots type, which includes the steps of forming, with a leading grooving cutter, at least one chip-breaker groove in the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, such that the chip-breaker groove extends in a broaching direction parallel to an axis of rotation of the rotor. The method further includes the steps of finishing at least a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer with a trailing finish cutter having a cutting edge contour corresponding to the portion of the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer, which is finished by the finish cutter after the chip-breaker groove is formed therein by the grooving cutter. • Patent number: 4861204
Abstract: A broaching tool is provided with at least nine cutting tool edges arranged at its circumference. The cutting tool edges cover only a certain sector along the circumference of a tool disk while leaving another sector between a first and last cutting tool edge free of cutting tool edges. This feature enables moving a tool axially relative to a work piece without first moving the tool radially relative to the work piece. Further, the tool can be moved radially without damage. These movements are performed when the sector without cutting tool edges faces the work piece. This sector without cutting tool edges has an opening angle of less than 180.degree. and it provides a spacing and free space relative to a work piece. Thus, work piece surfaces that have been machined by the cutting edges, are free of these cutting edges if and when the other sector faces the work piece.
