Patent number: 9943914Abstract: The invention is directed to a drill system that better uses the power curve of modern machine tools. The drill system uses IC inserts to perform the major hole diameter cutting, and a central drilling system that cuts the remaining minor diameter portion of the hole, and is configured to see less cutting surface footage, due to its position from the rotating center of the tool. A connection between the drill head and a holder body secures the drill head in a manner to effectively absorb lateral drilling forces. Multiple saw blade adjustable dado cutter assembly including a cam assembly and nestable dado blades
Patent number: 5309962Abstract: A multiple saw blade adjustable dado cutter assembly. The cutter can be used with a table saw or a radial arm saw, for example, to make dado cuts in board lumber. A pair of cooperating cams, each connected to a saw blade, can be adjusted to make a dado cut of a desired width. If the desired dado width is wider than the two blade configuration can cut, a center cam attached to another blade can be inserted between the pair of cooperating cams. With the three blade configuration, the three cams cooperate to allow the three blades to be spaced for the desired width of cut. In both configurations and at any spacing width, the two or three blades employed remain in a generally parallel alignment and transverse to the axis of the arbor on which the assembly is secured. To permit the blades to function with this geometrical relationship and to be adjustable, not all of the blade teeth lie in the same plane. The sequentially operating three or more cam assembly has uses beyond dado cutting.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1993Date of Patent: May 10, 1994Assignee: Vermont American CorporationInventors: Wilfred M. Patent number: 5206977Abstract: There is disclosed a saw blade mounting assembly of this invention for a tire rasping apparatus, which comprises at least one rotatable cap and a plurality of pins extending orthogonally from the cap to receive the saw blade mounting assembly thereon. The saw blade mounting assembly comprises at least one saw blade, a spacing member and at least one retaining blade. The saw blade has an inner smooth edge, an outer edge and a plurality of bores disposed therealong in alignment to receive corresponding ones of the plurality of the pins. The outer edge of the saw blade has a plurality of cutouts evenly spaced therealong and extending towards the inner edge to form a plurality of teeth. Each tooth is formed between successive cutouts. The spacing member has a plurality of bores disposed therealong in alignment to receive corresponding ones of the plurality of the pins.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1991Date of Patent: May 4, 1993Inventor: Hector O. Patent number: 5201353Abstract: A debarker head for use in a rotary tree debarking machine has a drive shaft with a polygonal cross sectional shape and a plurality of substantially similar cutting elements with mounting apertures corresponding to the drive shaft shape and sized for slip fit engagement of the cutting elements on the drive shaft so that the cutting elements may be mounted to the drive shaft at a number of rotational positions relative to the drive shaft. Further, the cutting elements have a plurality of arms with cutting knives. The number of arms of at least some of the cutting elements is not an integer multiple of the number of sides of the mounting aperture so that a variety of cutting knife arrangements for debarking various species of logs using the same head may be obtained by adjusting the rotational position of the cutting elements relative to the drive shaft. This design of debarker head can be repaired in the field.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1991Date of Patent: April 13, 1993Inventor: Theodore C. Weill

Patent number: 5154553Abstract: An apparatus allows for chamfering and deburring the end edges of a toothed production gear in a single operation and with one and the same tool. The tool includes two pressure wheels. Provided on each pressure wheel, axially side by side, are a ring of guide teeth and a ring of deburring teeth projecting circumferentially beyond the ring of the guide teeth. The rings have a filleted transition between them and together form chamfering teeth by means of which the end edges of the production wheels are pressed radially and axially against the production gear by means of adjusting drives.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1990Date of Patent: October 13, 1992Assignee: Maag Gear-Wheel & Machine Company LimitedInventor: Max Baumstark

Patent number: 4936717Abstract: An indexable slot cutting tool for narrow widths having both head and base members with adjacent opposed cutting faces. An axially oriented sleeve with right hand differential pitch threading engages the head and base members to effect axial movement of the cutting faces for slot adjustment.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1988Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: GTE Valenite CorporationInventor: Ronald P. Patent number: 4730962Abstract: A divided milling cutter comprises a first cutter half and a second cutter half which are adjustable in relation to each other with respect to their mutual distance and are both connected to a first, common, hydraulic sleeve which has an internal, annular pressure chamber and is threadable on to and securable to a cutter spindle or the like. To make possible a continous or step-less variation of the distance between the cutter halves in a simple way even when they are mounted on the cutter spindle said second cutter half is fastened to a second sleeve which is in threaded engagement with a third, threaded sleeve having a substantially annular flange which abuts an end of, or shoulder on, the first sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1985Date of Patent: March 15, 1988Inventor: Lennart Johannesson

Patent number: 4697963Abstract: The clamping mechanism and companion cutting insert disclosed are designed for use in a milling cutter intended to be ganged with other like cutters on a common rotational axis for the simultaneous milling of multiple slots or grooves. The axially movable clamp for the on-edge inserts employed in the cutter is operated indirectly by an adjusting screw accessible radially from the outside of the ganged cutter bodies without requiring disassembly of the individual cutters to index or replace the cutting inserts. In each of several clamping mechanisms disclosed, the ultimate clamping element or detent takes the form of an arm which is rocked into engagement with the insert at the site of a blind depression in the face of the insert, being drawn in the axial direction by inward adjustment of a radially accessible adjusting screw, and rockable in the reverse direction by a return spring to release the insert as the adjusting screw is backed off.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: Ingersoll Cutting Tool CompanyInventor: Edwin Luck
