The expandable sleeve has an expandable upper sleeve portion and an expandable lower sleeve portion wherein the expandable lower sleeve portion is expandable outwardly before the expandable upper sleeve portion is expandable outwardly. A nut having a substantially conical surface is fixed rotationally in the pre-drilled hole and is engagable with the threaded portion of the shaft. The substantially conical surface of the nut is engageable with the expandable lower sleeve portion so as to expand the lower sleeve portion until the nut is axially fixed in the pre-drilled hole.

Abstract: A forward and reverse expanding type expansion screw has a bolt, a nut, a forward expanding plug, a retaining tapered ring, and a backward expanding plug. By inserting the bolt through the forward expanding plug, the retaining tapered ring and the reverse expanding plug in order, the expansion screw can be inserted into a wall hole, the bolt can be driven to lock to the nut, the reverse expanding plug first expanding in the reverse direction by a pushing effect caused by the retaining tapered ring, and then the forward expanding plug is pushed forward and expanded in the forward direction. By expanding in opposite directions a cross expanding and squeezing effect is achieved to provide a very stable securing effect. A two-way sleeve and connecting sleeves may be further connected to provide fixed points for the expansion of the plugs and to extend the length of the expansion screw to meet different requirements.

  • Patent number: 5704746
Abstract: The fastener, which is typically made of thermoformed or similar plastic, includes a shank portion at least two parallel fingers which further include a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the fingers is integral with a base portion and the distal end of the fingers is integral with bridge elements which attach to a wedge element. A driving pin is attached to the base portion and is aligned with a gap formed between the at least two parallel fingers. The parallel fingers further include lateral serrated portions and radially oriented stabilizing fins. Upon impact to the driving pin when the fastener is placed into a blind threaded aperture, the wedge portion forces apart the distal ends of the parallel fingers, while the driving pin forces apart the proximal ends of the parallel fingers thereby driving the serrated portions of the fingers against the threads of the blind threaded aperture.
