  • Patent number: 6457953
Abstract: An axial flow fan for cooling electronic components comprising a plurality of blades for cooling electronic components wherein the blades comprise a plurality of specially designed airfoil sections, each section having along substantially the entire length thereof, a cross-sectional shape characterized by a maximum thickness located substantially constantly between about 16% chord to about 23% chord and a maximum camber located substantially constantly between about 40% chord to about 51% chord. The circuitry, housing, and blades are designed so that the axial width of the axial fan is decreased while maintaining performance parameters and design constraints.

  • Patent number: 6439855
Abstract: A motor and fan structure 10 includes direct current motor assembly 18 having a stator assembly 20 including a flux plate 22 and permanent magnet structure 24 mounted on the flux plate 22. The flux plate 22 defines one end of the motor assembly and define a magnetic flux path of the motor assembly. The motor assembly also includes a generally cylindrical armature assembly 32 defining another end of the motor assembly. The armature assembly is radially wound with windings 40, and an outermost part of the armature assembly and at least a portion of the windings is exposed to the environment. The structure includes a fan 12 having a generally cylindrical hub 14 receiving and covering the outermost part and the portion of the windings of the armature assembly. The hub 14 has a plurality of blades 16 extending therefrom. Thus, the weight and axial length of the motor assembly can be reduced since no case is required to cover the armature assembly yet the armature assembly is protected by the fan hub.

The upper end of blades of the eccentric flow fan are aligned with the blade at the lower end in the same axial line so that the two are overlapped and thus. The airflow guided therein will concentrate in this area and then is blown out in an eccentric way; and therefore, the efficiency of heat dissipating is improved.

Abstract: In a method and a device for precooling the helium tank of a cryostat, in particular one for accommodating a superconductive magnet coil, contamination of the helium tank is avoided by the fact that helium gas is cooled down to the temperature of boiling nitrogen in a closed circuit, the helium gas is then circulated through the helium tank and thereafter cooled down again to the temperature of boiling nitrogen. The helium tank is cooled by means of the helium gas, which has a temperature of 77 K, until the tank has reached that temperature. The interior of the helium tank getting into contact exclusively with helium, the helium tank can be filled with liquid helium immediately after it has reached the precooling temperature, without the need to clean the tank first.
